get new pc or not?

Was thinking of getting myself a new pc for the new games like cod4 and crysis.
But i have heard alot of bad things about crysis not playing well on 2x8800gtx or ati's crossfire on 2900xt. so will those drivers come out or should we all wait for new gear to come out like the 9800. ati have a new card the 3870 not sure if they are just mid range tho need to check up on that i think they direct x 10.1

Well, if you wait, you are going to be waiting for a while. As soon as the next best thing is out there will be something else in the works to wait for. But as its stands now a 8800 is pretty ample for most games and can run crysis fine just maybe not on absolute max. But then again we couldn't run Oblivion on max when it first came out(unless you spent like 4k). Hardware takes time to catch the software, so depending on your current financial situation and your current system you should decide what you want to do

If you like to play games on high settings and you do not wish to wait then buy the best. If I was you I would wait until the 9800 comes out and then you should be able to pick up a 8800 for a lot less.

8800. They have often good prices.

I run Crysis fine on a 8800GTS 320Mb, the lowest of the 8800's. Med-high settings, 1280x768 2xaa

well i got a 7950gt 512mb oc but only runs it at with shader q on low and that sucks for me lol. other settings are high res is 1680 by 1050 but it's all about the shader

I would either wait a bit, which would mean spending money on something that will be redundant anyway.

Or just get the game install it, play it on the maximum settings possible without effecting gameplay and if in the future you do want to get a new pc go ahead. It will be cheaper.

If that made no sense dont worry, tiredness kicks in at 3:30am..

Personally I'm going to get a 8800 Ultra whenever I get the money. But I don't think i would get a whole new computer.
