I have been told recently in the past that I admin like a Nazi. I wish to explain why I use the methods I do to those here on Spawnpoint, both regular players and administrators alike...

Back when I first got admin privleges in 1976 on the Deathmatch server, I was a little wet behind the ears. I had come from another community where the administrator procedures weren't nearly as strict. Making the transition took a little bit of time.

My second day or so of administrating, there was a PHXX senior admin undercover. We had one person in the server with the name of "ownthisbish", or something along those lines. As well, we had another player saying "sh*t" every 30 seconds or so. Not being used to reprimanding folks for language as much, I let it slip by unconsciously.

This senior admin ( who was undercover at the time, monitoring my actions ) then sent me messages via admin only text, explaining I needed to start administrating according to the rules, otherwise my admin could be taken away just as fast as I received it. I said my peace of course, as thats just me.

On another occasion, I had a player on our Turbo GG West server using racist remarks, and just generally causing a huge stir. I told him to stop acting like a moron and play. Once again I was told by an undercover senior admin, that I needed to not call a player a moron. Funny thing is, he ( the player ) was spouting all kinds of garbage, and I got reprimanded.

Now, I just follow the guidelines according to the administrator guide. They are not allowed to bypass the curse filter. Alot of other admins allow the acronym "STFU" to slide by. I don't. I won't really say anything for WTF, although TECHNICALLY, that is against server rules.

I enjoy administrating the servers I have those privleges on. It allows us to maintain peaceful gameplay while we are on a particular server. Understand that we can lose our admin privleges, just as fast. I will not lose mine because someone does not have the ability to follow server rules. Am I personally offended by someone cursing or saying "STFU"? No, hardly. The morning meeting room at my place of employment can easily outcurse anything you see on these servers. I have much thicker skin than you would imagine.

On the SP servers however, I have agreed to have "thinner" skin, so I will enforce as necessary, likely making a few enemies in the process. So be it.

Nicely put titan there is no way you will lose your admin for applying spawnpoint rules.The players who keep questioning your methods would be better just going and reading the rules, then if there is still a problem we have the forums to discuss it.
