suggesting some server changes--admins?

well, while im asking for a new rule to be added, why dont i suggest some new mods while im at it???
i know, i know, most of these probably arent possible, but it cant hurt to suggest them...
anyhoo, here we go:
Votekick/ban/mute: admins are NOT always around, and rule breakers/spammers WILL spam/break rules regardless of them. give the people some power--let us be the admins when the admins arent around!! it could do nothing but help, and i've had to quit many times before when a highly populated game quickly becomes dormant because of one person blaring "The Final Countdown" on their mic. yes, i know you can report them via SP, but not many people will want to do so, wasting their valuable time just to report one hacker/spammer. why not let them do so as they play???
Zmenu: maybe some people dont like the standard zombie...why not make a variety of zombies to fit playstyles? maybe that one dude who doesnt care for speed could have a SLOW tank of a zombie that has less kickback, or go the opposite with a fast zombie with alot of kickback? ive seen it done, and those servers usually have lots of traffic.
Hmenu: Human menu. i havnt seen this done--lets be the first!! there wont be different "types" of humans, but think of it like Call of Duty "perks". maybe the pryomaniac "perk" could see a player with no secondary weopon, but maybe one or two more grenades? or the "adrenalyne rush" "perk", where a human could have a brief burst of speed to flee from incoming zombies (to prevent spamming, maybe there could be a limit to it, such as recharge times or only 3 bursts per round). it would be a nice spice to add to the already great Zmod server, no?
First Zombie Lunge: this is probably the least likely (mainly because i first saw it in an original CS zmod game--but i HAVE seen it done in CS:S though!!), but here goes: the first zombie gets do have a bit more distance with his jump. now, before all you haters reply and say it would be spam, let me clear it up first: the first zombie will not be able to jump three stories at a time, and will not be able to jump across the map in one bound. to prevent spamming, maybe there would be a recharge time/only 3 lunges per round to use. the lunge would be just enough to give the edge to the first zombie, but not so much that he can jump up on the red crate with one leap--just enough height in the jump to get a little distance. too many times i've seen all the humans team up and corner one zombie, killing it and ending the round within thirty seconds--why not even the odds a bit? maybe even the lunge could be taken away when you've reached a certain number of humans infected (then given back if it goes down again). i know there is going to be a potential for spamming, but why not try??
whew! okay, so those are my ideas. thanks for reading them all, and ill try to answer any questions you guys have.
but this is just me, YOU guys are the admins--what do you guys think?
btw i think the votekick/ban/mute would be the most important...! :wink:

It has been asked many times before and gets a no everytime, any 'votethis' or 'votethat' option always gets abused by players for one reason or another and is an uber bad idea. And unless things have changed under Source Mod, you cannot use admin to mute anyone anyway, so like I say, unless SM is different, it would be pointless.

Also, he was not just referring to Zombie Mod for the Votemute addon.
@ Zombie: While I agree that admins are not always around, there are always other ways of dealing with troublemakers in the server. Voteban, votekick, and votemute, are abused on other servers. SpawnPoint has worked day and night (The collective "SpawnPoint") to keep the servers fair and unbiased. You give kick and ban powers to the people and suddenly our integrity is shot. Even mute powers would be abused beyond belief. I'm thinking that anyone under 30 would get muted for having, and I quote, "An annoying, high pitched voice", be it their actual voice or not.
As for the Zombie menus, I like Zombiemod as it is. And trust me when I say that other people do, too. Before the server made it's rough way to a 100tic variant, it was bolstering with traffic from all over the world. All it's going to take to keep people coming back is a few more game nights and a little help from the community.
I'm sure Drifter will be here in a bit explaining why it can (or cannot) be done. But I would like to see the server stay as is. I'm happy with one zombie, and no "perks".
Also, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this: "the first zombie gets do have a bit more distance with his jump."
Do you mean that the very first one, the randomly chosen one at the beginning of the round? Or ... Explain, please.

im perfectly aware of potential spam, but it shouldnt be possible for just one person to say "i feel like being a ******* today, so ill mute this guy..."
it should be a collective vote to all players on the server. and as for the menus, i just thought it'd be fun to add a bit more "spice" to the server--you wouldnt be FORCED to use them. and yes, the first on at the beginning of the round. he would jump, and he would move foreward a few extra yards.
remember, these are just SUGGESTIONS (except for the votes).
any more arguments?

If you want to mute someone you can do it yourself... Why would there need to be a "votemute?" If you were to have used the search button then that would've saved you a lot of time instead of writing this. It's been discussed close to 1000 times since I first got here, the answer is always no.
Also... What happened to the thread you made yesterday talking about the same problem?

Here's something that you can try: When someone is being annoying, open up your Counter-Strike menu (esc), click "Player List", find the person's name, and click "Mute".

I use that a lot on server so you can actually listen to the game and not "babbling" players and such....

Unfortunately, I get the feeling no matter how strongly you feel about it, 'voteoptions' have zero chance on being implemented on SP servers.
It never comes down to one person being an ass and doing it. What you nearly always find is that groups of players will gang up on others just because they can. You also get people voting just because they can, kicking because they can and banning because they can. And all because they want the 'powah'. Anything players can vote on is up for abuse, even player initiated map votes.
Ever been on the receiving end of a 'votekick' with half a server screaming noob at you, it's not very nice.

I am with Rufus on this one...player "vote options" like votekick, votemute, ect. have ZERO chance if I have anything to say about it. Those are abused SO BAD on other people's servers it is not even funny. SP decided long ago to allow people free admin instead of paying for it to build great servers where the community is/gets involved. Those admins have agreed to follow the rules....players with a vote option haven't agreed not to abuse that power....which is why they will never get it.

sigh...i never said that, i never meant to imply it, these are SUGGESTIONS, people! fine, no "vote" anything, fine. i was SUGGESTING them. i never said "I, the all-powerful ZombieHunter, declare that vote (insert) must be added to the servers! now begone, underlings!!!" and i never implied it, and sorry if you took it that way. i was simply suggesting some changes to the server i THOUGHT might push it foreward a bit, so sorry for wanting to make SpawnPoint a better place. :thumbdown:

Zombie, don't take the denial that way. I thought your original post was very nicely laid out with your argument for the changes you were suggesting. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes SP great. I was never thinking that "Zombie thinks he is great and is trying to force this". I was thinking that this is a legit request but one that has been decided in the past not to be a direction SP wants to go. Now as far as your other requests, I don't have any problem with them. I think that the staff, mainly the management, can decide if they want to add more of those kinds of options to that server. Drifter is getting better and better at scripts. Let the dead "voteplayer" part die and concentrate on your other player menu options like zmenu. We as staff members frequently get denied things we want as well. Don't worry about what can't be, work on what might be...keep moving ahead.:thumbup1:

I think the vote suggestion has been covered already ;)
For the zmenu/hmenu and lunge suggestions we have been toying with a few ideas for items that players could buy to give themselves certain abilities. Such as speed, health and improved jump abilities for zombies and more damaging ammo for humans.
So these are things that are being discussed, but I can't guarentee we will add them on server.
One of the problems with changing things on ZM is that you need to keep the balance between the teams as even as possible. So for example, when we added incendiary nades we also upped zombie health and reduced the knock back a little.
