How many of you have been contacted and asked for steam ID and password? vote in the poll above.
No one legit will ever contact you/ask for your STEAM password in game or in an email. If you give out your password, you have just basically unlucked your door and given away your steam account. If you do this and someone hijacks it, any admin associated with that steam ID will be removed and it could end up on theglobal ban list. There is a good chance that you will just have to buy a new one after that. I can't stress this enough, don't give out your password!! I don't care who it looks like is asking or how official the request looks, IT IS A SCAM!!

If you give out your steam account information, the person you gave it to now have complete control over your account. They may just get it VAC banned or may use it in place of your own. Either way, you no longer have access to your steam account. This is more than a scam to get your steam friends account info, this is to get your steamid.

There is nothing that they can directly do with just your Steam Friends Name, other than send you messages over Steam Friends. What they can do is change their Friends Name to impersonate someone else, then message you and try to trick you into giving them your Steam Login information (email addres and password) which they can then use to hijack your account.

Steam will NEVER contact ANY person through Steam Friends. If someone contacts you on Steam Friends claiming to be from Steam Support DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER!!!

The poll is weird in that it's called "have you been contacted?" and doesn't have a no response, but okay..
