New game nearing launch!

Hi guys,

My latest web-project is nearing launch, It's a text based game, with a Mobster theme (no, It's not all that crappy "gangsta" rubbish). Now, I've spent months developing this project, so I'd appreciate if you could check it out and tell me what you think, or even just give the link to a friend you might think interested. Here's my copy+pasted ad:

Hi all,

My new text-based web-game is about to launch for open-beta. First thing, I would like you to notice that the first twenty accounts will recieve $50,000 starting money as opposed to the standard $5,000.

Mobsters Empire is a brand new web game allowing users to compete against each other, or even group together to take down larger enemies. You can stay solo and fight your way to the top, or form a Brugad (crime family) to forge alliances and feuds in whatever way you wish.

Crime? No problem. Go rob a bank, steal a car, or simply walk the streets and mug a drunk.

Now, I bet you're wondering why you should play this game instead of the multitude of other Mobster based games out there. Well, first off, I'd like to point out there is not a single reason why you should. It's totally up to you. Next, I'm going to draw attention to the fact that its a free, fast paced game with alot more freedom than most online games. You can PvP to level up, or simply stay at the bottom and build up your cash. Or, how about owning a business? You could own a gambling business, if you wanted. What about a drug ring? Sure. Or maybe you don't want to be the best, but you want to create the biggest, badest crime family you can? Go for it.


Open beta is starting at 15:00 GMT on Friday (tonight, really. It's gone midnight now), where you'll be able to sign up and play instantly.

One last thing I'd like to point out, incase you're wondering. While this is a mobster-themed game, it isn't the "bad-boy gangsta" rubbish that you often see. It's alot more serious than that.

wow! Good luck with your project! I'm sure you've put on alot of time and energy working on this. I'd like to give it a try.

as for alienbait, you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, so don't judge a game's quality on it's subject. Till you've given it a try, I don't think giving a negative opinion is necessary

People are entitled to their own opinions, negative or positive.

Yeah, text-based isn't so popular anymore - but there are plenty of popular games out there. Look at Kings of Chaos. Hundreds of thousands of users. And thats just one example off the top of my head.

But, all I really want is a game that 20 or 30 people will play and enjoy. I certainly enjoyed the previous version (created when I was first learning PHP, so that one was rubbish), so this one should be awesome.

People come and check this game out,.. Wraith is making changes to it as we speak, and i am playing it now for a few hours and it is fun to play and also to see it's development..

Why can't I use a zero when trying to register my e-mail address?

Uuuuhm, maybe because an activation code has to be sent somewhere????

No, I was getting a message telling me that only numerical characters 1-9 could be used when entering an e-mail address. I believe Wraith may have corrected that issue when he saw my last post, as it works just fine now.

There was a blocking system in place to stop people using stupid characters in their email addresses, but it also stopped people from using numericals (just didnt occur to me when I was coding it), so I removed it.
