Default Renting A Server

I'm looking to rent a server for Counter-Strike Condition Zero. I'm new to the whole server thing though, so I'm kind of looking for help. :/1. At least 16 People.2. All talk on.3. 4 Maps. Assault, Dust Two, Surf Ski, and Surf Leet Bomb (or whatever).4. and I want one that's 24/7 with good downloading or whatever.

Scro has given you a link to purchase a dedicated server and manage it yourself. You can achieve that for as little as $75 for your own server!

If you are interested in having someone manage it for you - your best bet is with our partner - WolfGaming:

If you're looking for decent UK servers, I suggesthttp://www.inx-gaming.co.uk/. Beware, though, they have setup times of up to a week, currently. But they have lots of great features, such as FTP access, control panels to restart the server, install mods and such. They also have a billing control panel which allows you to see all payments, next payment date, etc. etc. and support control panel which allows the user to submit support tickets, and view previous tickets, all that type of thing. You also get a free TS2/Vent server and free webspace.

INx is well worth the week wait - their servers are REALLY fast, support is good, nice community in the forums, good value for money.

However, if you're looking for cheap-as-chips EU/US servers, then I suggest [link=http://www.clanservers.com]www.clanservers.com[/link] They charge $1.99 per slot, (roughly £1), no-debranding charges (Some hosts force you to put their URL into your server name unless you pay to have it removed. You don't have to with ClanServers), Free TS2/Vent servers, free clan webspace, game control panel (not as good as the INX one), a basic support ticket control panel.

Those are the main features of each, anyway :P I'd review others, but those are the only ones I have experience with using.

What is a "dedicated" server and what's the difference between dedicated and none dedicated?

I live in Portland, Oregon USA, I think I rather have one closer to me because of lagging, and connection. :/ How do I get the maps on there or is that done by my self? Also does all mic talking on or doI have to buy that? It keeps asking me if I want "No Voice Server", "Team Speak", and "ventrilo", I don't understand that?

They are just offering you the choice of purchasing a "Voice Server" - don't worry about it. Just set it at "NONE"...

I'd suggest WolfServers in your case - and a west coast location, such as their LA datacenter.

When you rent a server, the host sets the server up in their own datacenter. You just administrate it remotely (no, you don't have to access the actual computer. You don't even have to install the game. It's all done for you. You just play the game. Usually hosts will even install mods and maps for them if you ask them, so you won't even have to touch anything technical if you don't want to). All you have to do is find a host that offers server in the location you want (usually big cities, like London, New York etc., not small areas) then chose that location when signing up. Usually hosts offer a range of locations in a little drop-down box on sign up, so be sure to chose the right one.

in-Game voice is usually included with all game-servers unless specifically disabled by the host (they'll probably tell you somewhere beforehand that they have done so). Voice server means an additional voice communication program, such as TS2 (www.goteamspeak2.com) or Ventrilo (www.ventrilo.com), but those aren't required for standard in-game voice chats. They're external programs. As Mr Labec said, you can just choose None :P

Hope that clears it up a bit

A dedicated server is a seperate computer in the hosts datacenter that is used only by you. You can usually host more than one gameserver on the dedicated server, as well as a external voice server.

A non-dedicated server. however, is simply one gameserver. This server is hosted on a computer in their datacenter which also hosts other peoples servers. Sometimes they host up to 6-10 other gameservers per computer. This can lead to performance issues, but its usually tolerable and if you get a decent host, it's not even noticeable.

As you only really want a 16 slot servers, I'd say you should go for non-dedicated. You don't really need a dedicated for one server, nevermind a 16 slot one.

I would like two servers, like one gun game and the other random maps, but I don't want that yet. SoI just want one server for right now. So your saying if I get a decated server I can make up to like 6-10 servers if I wanted too? I could rent them out? But wouldn't I have to have it on my computer?

Valve explains Tickrate as: "During each tick, the server processes incoming user commands, runs a physical simulation step, checks the game rules, and updates all object states. After simulating a tick, the server decides if any client needs a world update and takes a snapshot of the current world state if necessary. A higher tickrate increases the simulation precision, but also requires more CPU power and available bandwidth on both server and client."
