Why do we keep running into kids playing this game when it says 17 + on the game .................i hate this .........what are your thoughts ?

Because laws arent properly applied when selling the games at retail stores...

I would say i hate it, but i am a 'kid' too...lol

I don't think it's really a matter of one's age. I mean, there are 20 year olds that act like little kids on servers all the time, and I know plenty of players below 18 that act perfectly fine. I wish that all parents could properly judge their child's maturity, and base their buying habits for the child on that.

There are lots of kids under 18 that play. There are clan leaders younger than that in our community that act more mature than "of age" people. It is not illegal for them to play. They just aren't suppose to be able to buy the game for themselves. There is nothing that says their parents can't buy it and let them play. We want a gaming community where kids (not trying to offend here....anyone younger than 18 is a kid to me) feel welcome too. They are always going to be there and just think....more noobs to shoot....or they might just own you......either way, its always more fun toplay withpeople than bots.

ya know i actually like the enviroment given by spawnpoint, yes it can be a pain playin with youngins but it can be a pain with any prick
as far as if they should be playing the game, that's up to the parents to judge if they're kid can handle it or not

ummm, there are no laws in the US restricting the sale of video games to minors. Several states/cities have tried to pass laws making it illegal, but all have been struck down as unconstitutional. A lot of stores refuse to sell gameswith certain ratings to minors, but that is a matter of company policy and wanting to avoid civil suits, bad publicity, etc., not a legal restriction.

The 17+ on the box is a rating given by an independant organization, and has no legal weight to it.

I don't mind "younger" people playing CSS providing they are mature enough to play the game properly (and their voice has broken if they use a mic).

It is illegal for retail outlets to 15/18 rated games to people under that age.

Also it is illegal for them to sell them to adults if they are intended for their kids.

I know that second one is almost impossible to police but there you have it.

So in all honesty we shouldn't have under 15 year olds playing counter strike in the UK LOL

i dont care if they play its just that when they start spaming the mic with little brat voices and squeeqy sounds that make my ears bleed is really bad i hate that. They want into a clan cuz they think there all that and never shut up some of them are really nice and cool when it comes to playing games such as this one but some of the others such as shinobi lol as some of us remember that was bad. whever little kids do that i say some remarks such as "dont think ur sooo cool cuz ur 13" and "talk when ur balls drop please" ect nothing too harsh just something to let them know that they're being disruptive or however u spelle it lol mr_me i think i need ur avatar

I'm 15 and I play. Most people think I'm older than that until they either hear my voice or I tell them. Everyone tells me I'm mature for my age, which is fine by me. Less people complaining.

Personally, I think that "teens" should be allowed to play, but not younger kids. I've met 12 year olds that play and are immature as all get out. They constantly complain and talk CONSTANTLY on a microphone. This is when people complain: when 12 year olds talk on the mic, not when teens do. Most people don't have a problem with teens playing until they find out their age. Then they start making fun of them, yelling at them, telling them to leave, etc. and it gets out of hand.

But yeah, I don't have a problem with "kids" as XTR3M3 puts it, just as long as the true kids don't use a mic.

I have to agree that kids can get on everyones nerves in a server. I'd have to say that kids are not always under 18, as was said 20 year olds can act ten and be worse than any young teen in the game. As for buying the game it is near impossible to keep video games out of the hands of kids even with the approved rating system by our lovely governments. I consider myself an older gamer compared to a lot of these kids but there are plenty of young teenagers that play games, and play them well. Plenty of times I have been surprised by how young my team mates are in game, just impresses me, until I run into a miserable mic spamming whining 13 year old that can't do anything right except get shot. Suppose I feel a little bit better when that happens, or I just pray for friendly fire to be on

i believe there is nothing wrong with teenagers, such as myself, playing counter-strike and such games. many people are more mature than you may give credit for. personally, i have met more immature "adults" in-game than "kids". as long as players are able to control themselves and act straight and civilized, there should be no problem.

as for "whiny 13 year olds' voices", you once had that same "whiny" voice even if you didn't play back in those years.

Hey, being a chick, I always get that stupid annoying comment with new people "Hey kid, don't use the mic until you grow some balls please"... lol

I don't think it should be discouraged for the younger ones to play , as long as they behave and don't bother people . But I don't think poeple should bring them down in game , just because they're not as old as them. Saying stuff like that doesn't make one feel welcome. I mean, they'e just there to play the game.
I play with a 13 year old on evolutiongaming all the time, and I could noooot beleive he was really that young , because of how cool he was. Like I said, as long as they're not being a nuisance, I don't think it should matter how old they are. Maybe they like hanging out with older people, or want to make CSS friends. Whatever the reason is, it would be nice if people didn't act so hard on them all the time. Poor kids man.. Where's the love? lol

But on another note, I remember this one rude little 11 year old brat , swearing all the time (and I was liek wtf? where are your parents kid... ) and he was being really really really annoying . I had to kick him because people couldn't stand him. LOL I called him a "Potty Mouth" when I got rid of him... it was kinda cute
