Default XP v. Vista v. Mac OSes

Well, I formatted my hard drive a while ago because I got Vista, and then I wanted to have that as my main OS but when I played CS on it, the lag was unberable, then again, I was using almost 1000MB of my 1024MB that I had .. So I went back to XP and I'm happy with it, does the job and everything. My question is...

Who here has tried Vista?

Who here is keeping XP?

Any Mac users here?

I'm planning to upgrade to an iMac or Mac Book Pro by the end of the year, but if Mac Book Pro prices will be as high as they are, I'll end up getting an iMac. Probably a 20" or if I'm in good stance money wise, I'll get a 24".

I'm sticking with XP. I may get the free Vista upgrade on the laptop I'm going to be ordering, and then swap out the hard drive and run XP until MS gets at least the first service pack out. Oh, and I'll definately be spending more time playing with Linux now that I have my second tower up and running

First of all to get a Mac, you must buy a macintosh computer, which tend to be pretty damn pricey. Macs have less sw and hw compatability but the os is nice, polished, and bubbly.

For Vista you can upgrade from XP (hardware pending) from your old pc. Vista has piss poor drivers atm yielding much lower fps in dx9 games on the OS. I have played around with Vista's GUI and it really is clean and nice. It simply does feel like a good operating system. Like fallen1 has said and I have said too, wait for SP1.

For Linux you can throw it onto most PCs you have lying around your house, new or old. Linux is really lacking in software support but generally has Linux versions of things. For example, for graphics editing PC users have Adobe Photoshop ($600) and Linux users have The Gimp (Free) which suprisingly has many of the same functions of Photoshop and a clean user-friendly interface.

The options are there for you to ponder.

I'm going to buy an iMac towards the end of the year if their Mac Book Pro's don't go down in price (By $500 or more, it's unbelievable about the price)

Well today i heard a NEWS from my teacher (Tech teacher) and She said that WIndows Vista will scan your COMPUTER while you are not using it, like if u downloaded or trying to donwload something that VISTA (microsoft) thinks it will harm your computer it will "kill" it Right Away. So such as "Xfire" if Vista detected that it has some harmful stuff in to Xfire software it will just kill it without any warning etc.

And other thing that im really care about (well goes to all Vista users) is when i get Vista not just some software will be killed. Is when i download some movies , Software such as MS office 2007 etc. Vista will report to Mircosoft and send something to your ISP and tells you "THINGs" about CopyRight BLA BLA BLA. <---- This is the hardest part for me to get Windows Vista in the future. [>:] Micosoft is getting gay ????

Thanks,

Well I tried installing Mac onto my other hard drive. Did FAT32 format too... And it didn't work. I'm looking online for a patched one that'll boot up onto here with NForce4 drivers or something. I can't wait until it finishes in a week

It's patched for Intel Core 2's and AMD ( I have E6400 )
