Default I had a problem this day.

Dear Spawnpoint admins,

I had a problem with a UEA admin today. (Not really a problem )
He told me I had to put off my clan-tag MoFo.
I know it's really a nice word, but.. It's my clantag, my clanmate was playing on the server too when it happened. We both had to put off our clantags.
Do I really have to get off my clanwar all the time I join the game? If people know it's my clantag, does it still matter?

Thanks for your time,

Kimmi <3

Not sure what the official ruling is, but the server says no bypassing the swear filter on Assault East and if a clan tag does that, I always make them change. I figure it is part of the risk you run of having a tag that could be offensive.

I personally have no problem with the word mofo, i see nothing wrong with it at all. Im guessing it is allowed because its not a swear word.

We all know what it means ofc, we all know what it means because we have heard this word before. If a child has never heard this swear word, he/she will not know what the word 'mofo' means. Thus makin the word none offensive. The same applies to obreviations imo like "omg" "gtfo" "fo" etc etc etc.

Then again, if these abreviations are used to intentionally abuse people on the server, or disrespect anyone in any way then it isnt and will not be tolerated.

The word mofo as a tag is none offensive to anybody specific.

I cant think of any other way to put it than that lol.

Plz slap me if im wrong tbh!

Deeman, Spawnpoint has a "family friendly" set up which also includes the servers.

Spawnpoint also has a "non-swearing" policy and, if you decide to have a tag that can be construed to be "offensive" or break any of our rules then you can expect that spawnpoint WILL react and ask it to be removed

If you are not happy with that decision thats unfortunate, however, if the admin asks that it be removed you either a) do so or b) leave.

Kimmi, I'll enquire as to whether the support staff and mods reckon your tag is or is not offensive and report back, until suchtimes would people who don't make spawnpoint policy kindly refrain form adding their own "2 cents" to this thread as it just causes "friction".

Thank you

but havent you got to be 16 to play the game? People older than that age would understand right? but when you get people playing younger than 16 that may just not understand.

So i dont see why people over 16 have a problem with swearing, keep in mind it keeps the server clean and tidy.

Being over 16 is neither here nor there... spawnpoint has a no swearing policy. I'm 29 and I still find it offensive and that's the same reason one of my admins (Butter) took this action... as per Raven's comments, it looks like he's going to get some clarity on the subject which will be helpful (thanks Raven). But understand that Butter was acting in the best interest of the server and he had Spawnpoints "no swearing policy" in mind - in fact he bounced it off Davie (Server Support) and Butter was advised to enforce this rule. Not always easy being an admin. Regards.

Well, if you want my opinion, I also would ask you to change mofo as a clan tag. Yes we all know what it means and yes it's harmless enough, but it does avoid the swear filter so in theory I would expect you to be asked to change it.

If you look at in another way, some guy has been on and about recently with the tag F*CK in fancy lettering, I alwasy ask him to change or I kick him which ever comes sooner and both as bad as each other I say and a blatent attemp to avoint the swear filter for no other reason as to cause offence or make people notice you.

What does your MOFO tag stand for Mothers Organising Familly Outings.....of course it doesn't

The difference with these abbreviations is that they are commonly used universally in chat room and have for years been acceptable and are not frowned upon and not looked upon as swearing or even avoding a swear filter, however if someone types FU or FO I will pick them up on it just as I would MOFO.

hi, it was me that asked you to change it kimmi.

I asked you to change it after consulting a member of the SP staff. It is obvious what this means, and as has been said it is not acceptable on a family server, even if it is your clan tag, it is still not allowed.

thanks for enquiring on this matter, now you are clear on SP rules please follow them

Hello Poomanuk, id like to say Rob hasnt confirmed anything yet (other than the no swearing policy which is obvious for admins) and thats clear to say. Rob has only stated his understanding of the rules or maybe even his point of view (in regard to the subject).

Cos like myself im unclear of this topic that we are discussing, as this is a grey area and nobody except the top level staff can be sure. So plz dont post such nonsense thnx.

Also Kimmi was pointing out the UK assault server only im guessing.

Kind Regards

L4rk.
