Default Thoughts on Geforce Video cards

I currently have a 8500 GT, I am thinking of upgrading to the new 9600 GT do you think that would be a smart move as the 9600 is only $100 more expensive then my current 8500.

And which card do you think is the best bang for the buck?

I have always used Nvidia GeForce video cards, and have had 0 problems with them.

For $20-25 more, you can get the 8800GT, which has a slight performance increase over the 9600GT. the 880GT benchmarks about 12% higher than the 9600 for the $25 difference.

More like 2 8800GTS G92's SLI'd in one card, and at a the pricerange mentioned I doubt he will need one . That card will probably retail at 500 dollars and won't have working drivers for at least a couple months prolly.

I would go for a 8800GT, almost the same performance levels as the 8800GTX for half the price.

I think the 8800gs has come out....that may be a cheaper solution....i dont know the performance because its fairly new

Newegg.com - XFX PVT88SFDF4 GeForce 8800GS 384MB 192-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

theres mixed reviews.......but personally i'd wait for the 9800 or whatever....unless you want to rape crisis now

8800 GT is definately giving good performances for a decent price, it's also a lot better than the 8500 and will let you play game with better Fps,quality,...

ya i have an 8800 gt overclocked to 700 mhz, and i run cod 4 at everything high, and i get absolutely no lag at all. on a few maps my frames drop to about 58 or so, but there is still no frame lag, so happy fragging and the 8800 gt is the way to go

From what i know, COD4 doesnt require high specs to play. Although the higher the specs, the more smooth it will run. BUT it is very good already with models lower then 8800. Gears of war and Unreal are the games that require a MONSTA computer!

I run on a 8800 GTS (currently best on the market) only flaw i can see with it is that its fan on it doesn't keep the video card cool enuf as my previous video card did (6800 XT)

Geforce is rather dependable, but I wouldn't say anymore than ATI. I've had to RMA my gfx cards twice (once when I had 7800gt and tehy had to upgrade me, and once with 7900gt). Granted, I was tweaking, but nothing extreme and one of them just pooped out on me.

i couldn't agree more geforce is dependable and not that ati is bad its rather good in its own class but compared to geforce i say that it has more pixel frames than ati meaning better graphics and a whole lot more
