Ok, let me bore you to death... it's difficult to show you what I do since my life is made up of spreadsheets, databases and random online tools which I can't show you... but I work for Verizon and manage their UK & Ireland optical network. This is the UK head office where I work...

This is our global network... (did you know The Verizon network is large enough to circle the world 18 times!? :rolleyes1:)

Me and my team manage the UK and Ireland optical network which involves managing the fibre capacity and all of the SDH/Ethernet equipment that sits on the end of the fibres... we have major core nodes in London and in key cities throughout the UK right up to Scotland. We also have presence in major hosting sites such as Telehouse. We provide anything from crappy little DSL lines through to 2Mb and up to 10G or multiple 10G's. Plus we're connected into Europe and the trans-Atlantic mesh, so we help provide international networks to the US, Europe, Asia PAC etc etc... my biggest customers are the trading banks such as London Stock Exchange, JP Morgan, New York Stock Exchange, Morgan Stanley etc who all want the fastest and lowest latency networks the world can give them.

For the geeks amongst you (who aren't already bored to death ) we use crazy WDM technology on my network - this allows us to fire 88 seperate optical wavelengths down the same optic fibre (which is smaller than a hair on your head) and each of those waves can carry a 10Gig network... 880Gig down a single fibre. Personally I think that's quite remarkable. :cool1:
