OK topic says it all.

I was bored and wondered has anyone ever heard of a human being swallowed whole by: say a whale. and surviving in the stomach. And theoretically could it happen.

hahah thing that started this whole debate:

Hmm
Hard to know what kind of water it has instead of Stomach Acids.... I say 1 in a 531247 billion chance.
I dunno, read the bible as IIRC there was one dude who survived inside the whales stomach for 2-4 (=3. WTF is up with my math?) days. You wanna test it, go ahead. Don't blam me for warning you, as I didn't.

I doubt it. Most animals mouth/throat is not as big as their stomach (as opposed to some snakes, that can unhinge) and so they would have to chew a person in order to get them to the right size. Therefore, even if you could survive once in the stomach, getting in there would be lethal.
Whales are huge

A whale might be able to swallow a human. Water would lubricate the throat, and some ancient species didn't have potent stomach acids, hence the reason some animals have to eat rocks to help digest their food. Plus whales have massive stomachs...

However, many large whales eat very small food, like plankton, which they screen through their teeth. That would not be condusive to getting a person inside.

I doubt you would survive, but we never know, I'm not going to try it to see if we can :P. Good luck ;)

Various attempts have been made over the years to come up with real-life Jonahs, but the most famous is James Bartley.

As claimed in numerous religious tracts, whaling books, and the like, Bartley was a seaman aboard the whaling ship Star of the East. In February 1891, while the ship was near the Falkland Islands, a lookout spotted a sperm whale several miles off.

Two boats were launched; one succeeded in harpooning the whale, but the second was upended by the whale's tail and its crew tossed into the water. One man drowned and another, Bartley, could not be found.

The whale was killed and hauled to the side of the ship, where the crew set to work carving up the carcass. The next morning they hoisted the stomach on deck and were surprised to see signs of life.

Inside they found the unconscious Bartley, who they doused with seawater and soon revived. For two weeks he was a raving lunatic, but by the end of the third week he'd fully recovered.

Bartley recalled being swallowed by a great darkness, then slipping along a smooth passage until he came to a larger space. He felt slimy stuff around him and realized he'd been swallowed by the whale. He could breathe, but the heat sucked the energy out of him and eventually he passed out.

The only lasting effect of the incident was that the skin of his face, neck, and hands was bleached to the color of parchment by the whale's gastric juices.

I have also heard this story! believe i read it in FHM

it depends on how much air the whale would actually swallow for the person to breathe, so the human would have to be swallowed whilst treadding water.
