Is it possible for a player to bypass a permaban?

So there was this kid on our server who was wall hacking (0:1:17279973), and we gave him the boot, permanently. Well next day he rejoins, and starts playing. I ban him again. Yesterday he joined AGAIN and was perma banned once more :confused1:. Yes, I am 100% positive I selected perma ban from the list, and me and the other admins are pretty confused. Any answers or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's most likely something serverside rather than a player bypassing a ban. A player won't be able to connect if their SteamID is on the ban list, they could only remove themselves if they had access to the unban command.

I'm not sure how your server is set up, but I'd be looking at the ban list and whether it updates properly. In the mean time there are other ways to keep that player off server like using ma_akick_steam "STEAM_0:1:17279973" that will kick them everytime they join. Although it might be possible the akick list would have the same issue as the ban list.

Ok ... I'm cufuzzled :confused1: It doesn't show below your avatar that your an admin... so how did you ban ?? and if you are a guest admin... we can only ban for 24hours so how did you perm ban ?? all permanent bans are decided by spawnpoint staff so unless you sent in a demo and had a reply from SP staff syaing that "said person" was globally banned I don't see how this can be..:sneaky2:

Mind you I have seen some admins that don't show SP Admin button below...so if this is the case.. Soz Pal :rolleyes1:

poomanuk, it's not an SP server, just one that the clan I'm in (IDK) runs. And no, the kid does not have any admin or authority within the clan. I'll give the auto kick a try. Thanks.

Possibly this kid who was banned is freinds with another of your admins. And keeps being unbanned?

Just another possibility to put out there.

Do you have access to console on your server? If so, and if what Lark said is correct, then you should be able to tell who unbanned the person. Just check the console logs for something like: (ADMIN)Namehere: Unbanned player steam id (STEAM_0:1:17279973).

I believe that is what it looks like when an admin unbans someone using mani. If they used rcon, then it might be a bit different.

You wouldn't by chance IP banning him instead of Steam ID banning him would you. Some people can reset their IPs.

L4rk3m0n, no, he is not freinds with any other admins, and unless one of them is
not telling the truth, nobody is unbanning him.

Tills, yes I did use the console, and there was no evidence of unbanning. I tried to check the ban list but couldn't figure out the ma command for it. However after I entered the auto-kick command and then checked with ma_ashow_ip his IP showed up , so I'll know sooner or later if its working.

Xtr3m3, considering he may be resetting his IP I suppose I should be using ma_akick_steam next?

Thanks for the help guys.
