Hey. I have encoutered many problems and troubleshoots with both Steam and Source SDK. This Thread is for anyone that has problems with any of these programs. If you have a problem or troubleshoot concern, post it, and viewers can help you out.

One problem I am recently farmiliar with is one with Source SDK. Everytime i would click on the icon, a window of "Preparing to launch" would pop up for a short amount of time, then disappear without launching the actual Source SDK as requested.
If this is your troubleshoot follow the following steps:
- Right click on the "Source SDK" icon and create a shortcut
- Once you have made the shortcut, right click on the shortcut icon
- Select and click "properties"
- Notice how there is a tab called "Target" which has a text box where you can type freely in
- after the text that is already present in this text box, paste the following code
-engine ep1
Make sure this code is placed after the text present in the text box already. Make sure you put a "space" after the text before pasting the above code.

Press "Apply" and "ok" and retry running Source SDK

For any other Steam or Source SDk related isues, post them, and other viewers may help you out too.

I have been a steam member for over 2 years now. I have encountered many problems and troubleshots with the Steam engine. I am here to tell you somethings i did to fix many comon problems and troubleshots people have and had.

If you have any sort of "Steam" related problem such as, "steam not running" when you request to click on it, or things such as little "gliches" with Steam itself.

If so, try the following steps:

- Click on your "start" key located in the bottom left corner of your screen
- Then open up your "my computer"
- Now, open up your "local dick eg.C" whereever you saved your steam engine in
- Once you have done this, open up your "Program files"
- Then, find a folder called "Steam" located near the bootm
- Click on it, and find a file called
ClientRegistry.blob
- Delete this and only file

Once you have done this, click on your steam icon and try rerunning it.

For any Steam related problems or troubleshots, please post them in thsi thread thus me or any other viewer can help you.

Thank you

I've been having the same problem starting my SourceSDK, every time I launch the program the dialog box says "Preparing to launch SourceSDK..." however it doesn't follow through, the program never starts. I've tried adding "-episode ep1" to my launch properties, I've even gone as far as reinstalling SourceSDK and deleting my "sourcesdk.gcf" file and reinstalling SDK. Is there anything else you can think of that might be causing the problem. Note: I am running WinXP64.

But suddenly when I run the map now there just not there, please respond soon, I don't know whats wrong with my map, or what I'm doing wrong!
