For the past few days I have not been able to play demos. When I start a demo playback I tend to get spammed messages in my console of one type or another. the message is not always the same. I only have this example from my last attempt to play a demo:
Quote:
There are also a lot of various graphical anomalies that are hard to describe. One example for one demo was that for the entire demo (which quit half way on it's own) the perspective was from the ground. So half the screen was blurry from being half bellow the ground. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Or what it is?

I know SmJe has had the same issue in some of his demos and he also uses that demo script. So I'm thinking it may be something to do with that.
Try recording your demos the old fashioned way and see if that sorts the problem out. If it does then there is something that needs fixing in the script, if not then I'm all out of ideas . |

Wait. So you think it might have something to do with the way I record the demo? If that were true then it stands to reason that I should have been having this problem from the get go as I have been using that demo script for...heck a year now? This problem is only in the las week or two. I will test it out you suggestion though. But logically speaking (yes there is logic in me...deep down...) that should not make a difference. Also....I am not getting much feedback here....I think this is important though... HALP ME PLEEEEAAAASSSEEE! ![]() Also I would like to mention that this is intermittent. I fails to work more than it does work, but every so often my demos play back fine. Then I might try to reply that same demo right away and it wont work.

I was thinking more that Steam may have changed something in an update that had some adverse effect on your demo scipt.
If the problem remains, even with doing demos manually, then you could try defragmenting the game files and verifying the integrity of the game cache. Open Steam - My Games - right click on CS:S - properties - local files. Might not help but it won't do any harm. |

I just tried to make a demo manually and got the same result.
I actually just recently defragmented the game files while playing HL2 Episodes 1 and 2. As I think back it does seem that the problem surfaced around the same time as my defrag. If that has something to do with it....what can I do? Try?

Ok here is something new. I was booted off the ZM3 server and got this message:

![]() So I googled that error and got some info from 2004 saying STEAM patched that error....yup...that did not help me... ![]()

Well I was not able to determine the cause of this problem. Last night I uninstalled and reinstalled Steam and CS:S.
Demos record/play fine now....

I've also been getting this problem lately, but theres a twist. I caught some1 2 day with that upside down aim bot magafter, and started recording straight away as you do. I finished up then reviewed the demo - I got exactly the same errors as you and smje. The thing is the last 3 demos that I took where the player was deffinately cheatin had the same result. I then went back in game and took another demo of normal players following the same procedure of auto spec, status etc. The demo came out fine. This got me thinkin how come its only blatent aimbot type cheaters demos that arn't workin..I did a few searches and quite a few sites mention a cheat that sort of cocks up your demos here's an extract from 1
QUOTE -If a recording is allready running, and someone activates a cheat, then following error is displayed: Netchannel: failed processing message svc_PacketEntities. Update delta not found. I have LOADS of video recordings, but this has only hapend on "cheat busting" video's, and several "known" cheaters is left un-touched, since the demo's are FUBAR. It seems like this issue apears as the cheat is activated, sort of "scrambling" the recording's, so a 12 MB video with what should be a clear case to get someone banned left in the air, hanging... - END QUOTE Has anybody heared of this ??? If there is such a thing it could be a big problem ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sounds like a load of speculative crock to me. What is the URL of the sites you are getting this info from?
