Ok I need something to do right now and figured instead of hijacking the other photography threads I'd start a running thread in general. Sorry Tullsy, I couldn't help myself!

I have only a few I feel are worth posting, as I still learn with my camera (Canon Rebel XTi), and I don't have a tripod ATM so some things are just plain difficult. You'll notice I'm a huge fan of sunrises, sunsets and weather in general. Machines are up there too, from airplanes to fire trucks, as well as architecture and animals, but I'll save those for later. Enjoy and please feel free to post your own work!

Holy moly, those are super good! I've always envied those who have access to the ocean/a big body of water.

I'd highly recommend investing in a tripod, though. I've had difficulties in the past where I've had to use the ground or a post for some of my longer exposures and, well, I don't like having to place my expensive equiptment on the dirty floor. I'm a big fan of architecture, and often times, you need a tripod to frame the picture properly.

Shift, I think I'm going to bug Phil until he gives us a dedicated Photography section of the forums. Creativity is nice and all, but it's filled with Photoshops and paintings and whatnot - not exactly the same material. Until then, we shall use this. :)

I'm leaving for Palm Springs (warmer fronts! YAY!) tomorrow and I'll try to upload my photos as I go, but I'm not guaranteeing anything.

Here's my Flickr photostream... a few of them I had posted in the last thread, but most of them are new - enjoy! Oh, and you may notice, I have a thing for flowers.

Neat! I like the glass. interesting subject, maybe I'll try my hand at that. Definitely something that takes a good eye to do. With this crap weather up here not going to be doing much outside until the white stuff starts falling, maybe I'll run out to a fire call or two and snap some "action" shots. I plan on getting a tripod very soon, I've been using that "find something that doesn't move and set the camera down with the timer" trick and it sucks. I wanted to have it for the eclipse the other night and just wound up using a video camera...

Haha, so funny story, kinda scary, but funny... im in Palm Springs and after taking a whole bunch of pictures, I downloaded them all onto my computer. Good idea, right? Wrong. Im still not sure if lost those pictures yet or if stuff on my Mac is salvagable, but i have my fingers crossed. Im really quite worried, though.

So you uploaded them and can't find them? Or did your os crash? I leave my photos on the card and delete them using the camera afterwards, might come in handy if something went wrong with the transfer. Good luck, hope you've had luck finding or retreiving them.

Heres a few more, some former pets (bunny passed on, kittens were picked up on the side of the road after some **** dumped them, and we wound up finding them a home) A figure from the Louvre in Paris and a seagull with a very unfortunate fish.

You can't post local files. I'm not sure how you even got it to accept the local directory, but ... you did.

Upload it to an online source like imgur (for single files) or Flickr/Picasa for albums and either directly link us to the photos or just leave us a link to the album. Oh, and if you're going to post a Facebook file... you need the direct link (not the link to your profile page). It'll look weird, like skdn.fbook.photos.com/BALHALBAHA - whatever. I believe you have to right click the photo and select "Copy Image URL."

It should be something like this: https://s-hphotos-ash1.fbcdn.net/hs760.ash1/165173_473094965307_649050307_6285142_4113564_n.jpg

Which comes out like:
A little bit of an aside... Now that I think about it. Please don't use Facebook... the image quality is terrible and Facebook is blocked on most networks.

I'm going to post again, because I'm posting actual content and not just answering a question.

As stated above, I was recently in Palm Springs and, while I lost most of my photos, I was able to recover a few. I've created a "set" on Flickr, whatever that means...

Edit: I found an issue with my new lens over the break... It seems, because it's a zoom lens, that it's turned me into a lazy photographer. I found out that I could shoot the shots that I would normally have to get up to do from the comfort of my beach chair and, as such, ... I became dependant on finding the easiest way to take photos.

Sweet pic Drama, I'm trying to make it up to the U.S. Open in Vermont this year and pics like that are inspiring. You could probably turn that picture into an ad or a competition and make some $$$

I have a few more older photos, I haven't been busy really lately, hibernation has gotten the best of me...
