French Admin

Hello,

I'm admin on Spawnpoint Common Grounds, a London based server. We get mostly English and French players on with a few other from around Europe. So I thought a French speaking admin would be useful.

I keep getting asked by one of the French regulars if he can be an admin, but I don't speak french and he doesn't speak English. The conversations can get annoying quickly. I even had my mum translate an email telling him what to do. But he's still asking. I've started changing my name before I go on so he won't ask, but as soon as use any admin powers, he starts up again.

So I have a few questions

Is speaking English a requirement for being an admin?

Does anyone here speak French?

If he's ok to be an admin, he'll need to be told what to do and some of the rules for admins so I would need help with translations and stuff.

I don't think language needs to be a big issue....if he, or someone else, that speaks french wants to apply for admin, fine. I think they will get the "gist" of what you are doing. Just give him the spawnpoint.com web address and he can figure it out for himself.....if not.....there is always ignore.

i think any 1 should know well enough english if they want to be an admin on the server

in reply to oZ, Yeah I guess you're right most people speak english so it would be a goodthing to have someone speak both french and english, but if you don't find anyone like this you might have to hire just a french guy to add to the english team.. I mean ok he'll have trouble communicating with the players, and it might get touchy when it's time to warn players if they don't understand what he's trying to say. But I still beleive it could be usefull, an admin don't need to talk to record a demo and ban a hacker. And even if he's not english it's not too hard to know ''don't do that [player name]" and then when the guys says what he just has to say nade spam, spawn camp or things like that, or even more simple, no spawn camp [player name], it usually responded by Ok sorry, or go to hell you, makes the future action real simple.
