Why??

Why do folk feel the need to express themselves in that way??

I mean, generally to let rip with a string of expletives you HAVE to press the communication button (unless you have voice operated maybe!) before you can talk!! Is it really so important to vent in that way???

I'm no prude and I do swear a lot during a game.... it's frustrating to get killed easy or to lose a level when knifed.... but the whole pressing the button so everyone else can hear it??? Why bother?? I don't quite get the mentality that deems it "ok" to let rip that way!

Maybe some of you can explain it?

Well bear if we could answer that question all the admins could take it easy.
I too let out the odd expletive when playing css who doesn't, but no one on the server will hear me because i don't press the mic key. I mean why should players who are on to enjoy themselves have to put up with me swearing or ranting on server , the answer is they don't.
Now thats me , but to those players that feel the need to share their rant on server i will say this , enjoy your rant because if i or any other admins hear you we may warn you , if you are a regular on the server we may just kick you ,but if the swearing is considered to be bad enough we may just take a demo or 2 then have you banned from ALL spawnpoint servers.
So i say if you need to explode verbally and colour the air blue do so by all means, just do not press the mic key.

I totally agree swearing in chat and on voice is never acceptible - with one slight qualification.

I dont take any action if someone is using the mic and then suddenly finds themselves dead, blinded whatever and lets one slip forgetting they have keyed the mic. Especially if they then realise and apoligise without needing any prompting. So long as it is an isolated incident from a normally rule abiding player it can slide.

They do purely because they can and because it is against the rules, no other reason. Whould you run into a church or your school shouting expletives everywhere..no you wouldnt. On servers the added anonymisity means a lot of people act in ways that they wouldn't in their real "3D lives" and when your 8 years old and Dad's not in the room to hear lol...theres all sorts of reasons.

Swearing on the server is my greatest hate, the odd one over the mic I can forgive from a new player, a regular player will get his ass slayed at the very least.

But the thing that gets my goat more than anything are the ones that type crap to deliberately avoid the filter...then I become a little more ruthless

True its not needed but I think as Rufus said the ones who deliberately go around the filters, rules are the worst in some respects. Also the ones who make a point of asking what is and isn't allowed. That really grinds my gears!

I get angry and frustrated the same as the next player and I do swear and curse.... I JUST DON'T PRESS THE MIC KEY!!

That's the issue really!! You can swear and curse as much as you like in the comfort of your own home (or your parents lol) but there is absolutely no need at all to press the button and let everyone hear it!!

when people give me grief for not pulling out my knife.. it is annoying..

i reckon to stop this fiasco.. there should be a mod that changes your mic chat key and your chat key... to a random key on your keyboard everytime you die.

thus when you have found that magic key.. its to late an you forgot why you were mad!! simple!

I have noticed that a lot of the "animosity" on Gun Game tends to start by people hurling abuse at someone for not knifing or shooting players who are trying to knife......

I have a very simple answer to those who question on the server why they aren't allowed to swear when they have been given a warning not to......"when" they re-connect they generally have the general idea as to what happens if they do swear

Bear, the simple answer to your question is "because they can and reckon that, because they are "hidden" behind a mic and pc screen that there's not a lot you can do about it". See they're like hackers, yes, they might get banned but there are 15000 other servers out there that they can go annoy people on

So....deal with them, harshly, and let them go annoy some other server community
