blinded on the east server

a friend and i are playing css on the sp east server and when either of us died mostly me cuz i run in i would get blinded and this is what console would say "You have been temporarily blinded for ghosting on an IP address with another player" it didnt say that an admin did it id like to know y this is doing this.

Hey hun, the reason that happened was because you two were on the same ip so it blinds one player to prevent ghosting. No admin does it, it's just the server.


Happens when my brother and I play together as well, so no worries.

As fem said it's a mod installed on the server to prevent ghosting and it happens to anyone sharing the same IP.

I moved this thread from RAI section to CSS sessions to allow other player to comment if they have anything to add.

If Joe and his kids are on the same server we're gonna blind an admin....

Anyone else an admin that uses the same ip as their kids / better half?

Same here, my daughter has her pc in her bedroom, mine in my office.
Not very often we play on the same server, but it would certainly be a problem if we did.

Is this mod on all servers? I admin 108.4 and always see ghosters there, but it's nearly impossible to prove.

this only happens to ppl with the same ip it wont work for all ppl that ghost
there is too many ways for ppl to ghost such as over phone,Xfire,Ventrilo,Teamspeak,steam chat, voice chat in steam , msn voice chat or msn chat for ppl with 2 monitors. there might be other ways

But to be blinded by the server you have to be on the same i.p.
ghosting over a "3rd" party is totally different.

i though it was whoever dies first is blinded. Cause i take my laptop over my friends house to play LAN and after a while we go on an actual server and whoever dies first cant see.

But, you can be still playing next to each other without getting blinded if you use different internet IP adresses.

It's difficult to say to remove the mod or to not remove it, there's no real way of knowing how often people attempt to ghost on Spawnpoint with 2 computers using the same IP. I think the mod should stay and if there is a way to make admin exceptions then to make those exceptions.

i think this is a build in feature as in cant be disabled and on all servers
