Ventrilo Server Suggestions

Hey all,

The Ventrilo server, as it is right now, has one channel for Counter Strike Source players. This is great for general chatting about CSS, but for people actually playing its not very helpful. My suggestion is that SpawnPoint should create sub-channels for each server, so people on that server can join it and talk to each other. This isn't for strategy calling or ghosting, as both sides (counter-terrorists and terrorists) would be in that channel. In-game voice chat can be used for that. Rather, it would be a way to simply chat about the game in progress, have a good time, and develop friendly rivalries.

Furthermore, it would be great to have a message appear in-game that tells the player that SpawnPoint has a free Ventrilo server and provides the IP address and port.

Thoughts?

That would mean over 30 dedicated channels dude.

The reason there are as few is to encourage "interaction" between players. We've been using it for a while now and can be in 4 or 5 different servers and still discuss staff items without it being too much inconvenience.

It's also a place to find admins if you need one and stadff if you require a quick staff decision.

It's also advertised a lot on the forums. Players on server should be encouraged to the forums first and not just straight onto ventrilo

Fair enough. Its just difficult to play when there are lots of people, on different servers, talking. I guess the Ventrilo server is more intended for staff and admins rather than the players, which is fine, except it removes any real reason for players to use it.

I'm confused. A lot of guests use the ventrilo channels the way they are.

They like the "togetherness" that it gives. Why break it down so that you get 1 or 2 people in 20 different channels?

I don't get it?

i dont see why more channels need to be added if you want quiet then go into the afk channel or an empty channel. i dont see the problem because majority of the time the unpassworded channels are ghost channels they are not quite cool enough for other ppl that can access the passworded channels (

Death, the passworded channels are for those in that portion of the staff that need peace and quiet.

heck when i'm doing editing i don't want someone talking me when i'd like to finish up a profile after all.

i wasn't actually refering to the staff only channels i was actually refering to admin corner where ppl are majority of the time
