Problem

ok so when i open up the servers to view the servers oni the internet i click on one but it never opens. all of the sudden the latency shoots up to 2000. so i quit cs:s and open it again. all of the sudden it can't connect to the servers list. something is seriously messed up with this computer...

Uhm, that happens with me sometimes. You just need to wait a while or if you have no patience like me, just keep hitting connect and it'll EVENTUALLY work. That or it's just your internet >.>

Now is this a common occurrence or does it only happen once or twice a week say?

If it commonly re-occurs then you could have something else running on your computer or on another computer connected to your network using up large amounts of bandwidth. Try going to your task manager and seeing how much bandwidth is being used up by going to the "Networking" tab and looking near the bottom.

I know this seems really complicated and ridiculously complex for what seems like such a simple problem but sometimes its not what it appears to be.
