Custom Skins, LAME?!

I figured out how to run some custom skinz a while back, and I dig it. I dont do it for many guns but recently I came across something I felt I should raise as a few questions. So here goes.
1- Does spawnpoint have any rules against skins?
2- what about skins for snipes with laser sights for no scopes?
3- anyone have any sweet skins they'd like to share?

They can't detect if u have a laser sight but may think that you have aimbot if u no-scope hs a ton. Use your judgement. I don't see any problem with visual skins that don't give you an unfair advantage. Their banking on your honesty, they cannot detect anything. Play fair.

Well, I disagree with that. Having a skin for a sniper rifle that has a laser sight on it, pointing to the middle of the screen where the crosshairs would be, can be considered as an "unfair advantage" because most people don't use skins like that.

While Spawnpoint don't have any active rules specifying skins, it is Spawnpoint's stance on cheating that, as long as you have something that will give you an unfair advantage over others, whether it is skins or 3rd Party Programs like aimbot or clear wall textures, that is still considered cheating. If you were caught cheating with a demo of you, you will be globally banned from all Spawnpoint servers with that Steam ID. No exceptions.

I don't personally care about a gamer using weapons skins.

It is when they resort to special model skins, turning the opponent bright blue/red where I draw the line. Using such skins allows the player to see an opponent in dark areas, where normally they wouldn't be detected.

I'm all for using your God given skills to do the best you can, and not resorting to alternative methods to prosper.

I had figured the same things, and hadn't even thought of skins for bright players. Just skins that help the feel of the game. I personally am trained on an m16 and must on occassion use the m4. And there was no way I was going to use the freaken m4 skin that steam has...

Recently i was looking at the VAC website and they said right on they website that vac does not detect see through walls via skin they also cant detect those pesky glowing players Thats where Pure servers come in handy..

I have a pack of skins i use its about 2 gigs though LOL

I just said it, but I will say it again:

Clear wall skins = wall hax.

Hacking on Spawnpoint servers = globally banned from SP servers when caught by admin and demo(s) being sent in.

Vac would catch that. It looks for Anomalies in the coding of programs.

ive got some pretty cool skins, i turned my p90 into dual mp7's, my 57 into an old school beretta, but my favorite is my ct auto snipe, i turned it into an m16a1 with a scope, and it sounds awesome!

Vac doesn't search your texture folders only the core exe and DLL files of CSS

The following will not trigger a VAC ban:

• Using chat programs like X-Fire
• Playing multi-player mods which do not modify core .EXE and .DLL files
• System hardware configurations
• Updated system drivers, such as video card drivers
• Playing with custom skins

Trust me. What Vac does when CSS boots into a VAC secured server it runs through the game settings, processes, and any files involved in making the game run properly.

Yea VAC does detect some of the texture like that, but I mean it's not like they're hard to make. Anyone with decent photoshop skills and the right software can make a custom texture or a see-through skin.

i changed my grenades into soda cans (HE coke, flash Pepsi, smoke Crush) and my glock into a different looking one and now i love the Glock!
