Hi guys,

This morning in UK Assault, I was recording a wallhacker, and the regulars/users kept taunting him with hacker jibes, and comments like "Johnny Ban him he's hacking!"

This resulted in the player turning off his wallhack, me getting only a 1 minute demo of him, which no doubt the Anti-Cheat team will send back to me, which is understandable, since there was little to no proof. The player then left the server.

It's no good us server admins recording players, when everyone scares off hackers. It can sometimes look bad on us too, if the Spawnpoint staff think we are not dealing with them efficiently. If there is a hacker/cheater that the admin has not noticed, can I please urge users to use the admin only chat to alert him/her (@ message)

I know what you mean. I've had people come into other servers to find me and have me ban a hacker, only to start taunting him about how now that the admin was on he was going to be banned. Meanwhile I'm trying to record a demo while people are screaming at me to ban him before I've even had a chance to see anything and the person just disables thier hacks. Oh, and I just love how players will then get mad at me for not banning the guy after they warned him that an admin had come in to spec him.

Yeah the players last night when I was recording a hacker got mad at me for not banning him instantly.

I tried to explain to them that we don't just kick and ban the hackers, we record them too, but I don't think anyone cared.

This kind of thing happens a lot. I've had players insulting me while I'm recording a demo of a hacker, good idea that, insult the admin that is going to ban the hacker and not the hacker[:@]. Everyone hates hackers and wants them off the server so I understand the "ban him already" comments, but calling me names? How is that going to help?.

I had one player tell me proudly after I connect to spec a guy with a massive score "I told him you were admin so he left", like it was a great thing to have done. Well done fella, now he can come back any time he wants, good job. That is why I usually change my name before connecting.

The best thing for players to do if there is an admin on and you think someone is cheating is to use chat @ message, to talk to admin only like Castor said. And if there is no admin on then see:

It makes an admins job much easier and helps keep the servers fairly hacker free if players do this.

Welcome to the forums.

However,

Firstly please don't hi-jack someone elses thread it makes things difficult to reply to.

Secondly, we are unable to ban a player from ANY server without proof.

I was on when that happened for several occassions... I like Guns' way of doing it. Change the name (an not a monkey name fallen), look like a random, record your demo and ban as needed. I also witnessed a few occassions of exactly what you are describing, and player who recognize you're incognito blabbing it on alltalk as to warn the hacker that he's about to get caught. I've always questioned the reasoning of these people.... to taunt while an admin is doing their job and give away their identity

im happy i find the stupid hackers then, people scream at them while i demo and they just laugh and say yeah, right. But seriously, we need to support the use of admin chat with the @.

yea ive gotten footage of a hacker not good enough cuz every one was saying omg ban him hes hacking and i think if ur quit and spec him its easir but everyone cant keep there mouth shut soo that results him to leave and come bak later or turn them off i personally think yall should like ban the words like hacker and stuff soo the hacker doesnt notice we found out and so we can have more time to demo him with out him finding out.... soo wacha think

Guns gets extremely mad when hackers are on the servers and the other users are yelling "HACKER"! I've been one of those people before but I've learned my lesson. The only time I start taunting the player is AFTER I get a demo recorded that I'm confident the Anticheat team will clearly see the user is hacking. I play regularly on SpawnPoint (USA) GunGame server. It is a very popular server but luckly not many hackers come to it. Though I've noticed more recently since school is out and the only thing low-life teenagers can conjure up to free their boredum is to find hacks and go play on a random server. Unfortunately for them there is usually a good citizen around to demo them and send into SpawnPoint.com. I love getting users banned when ever they're extremely disrespectful by being a lamer and hacking. I don't follow all SpawnPoint rules. (I'm pertty bad at cursing sometimes ).

If it wasn't for server resources, it would be extremely helpful to have a new Mani mod that an admin can actually quickly mute the hacker from INCOMING text and or voice. That way the hacker can't see that everyone else is getting extremely angered and taunting them. This would also allow admins. to successfully get their demo. recorded and be able to have the hacker permanently banned.

Though I do agree with the origional topic, it is quite frustrating when people do start crying "Hacker Hacker". I've been trying to stop myself lately but sometimes other people just don't understand.

On a tad off-subject note. The swear filter (text) is extremely vague. I'm surprised by some of the words that can be said and some of the words that can't. I think the text filter list is kid of incomplete? lol.

I'm in there with an alias just so I can do this kind of thing: demo and baby sit players in there, and only using my admin powers when it's needed.

However, the few regulars in there know that I am an admin, and for some reason, they cannot keep their mouths shut when seeing a hacker. One of them actually gave me away as I was demoing. He was like "yeah see that guy in the specs? He's and admin, he's taking a demo of you, and then he's gonna ban you." Wow, good job, I just got into the server and hadn't even found out why guy he was talking about yet, and he gives me away. I might as well just change my name back to [PHXX]sir understeer and use ma_say to talk to everyone.

I have told these players with ma_psay to just remain calm and that we have procedures to follow, and that includes sending in a demo so that the hackers can be globally banned on the Spawnpoint servers, so a few rounds of being hacked for the cause of having this loser taken off of all Spawnpoint servers is worth it.

I actually had a regular from 167.17 come onto another server to tell me that there was a hacker on there.

I arrive on to find a guy 74-4 after 14 mins on an Assault server. I start recording and the same guy who came got me then starts telling the hacker that admin has arrived and he's gonna get banned.

Luckily my 30 sec demo was enough and i banned him before he left......

You got lucky then Raven. The guys I've been dealing with lately are the "smarter" kinds of hackers, only turn on the hacks when the proverbial "poop" hits the proverbial "fan", so that it looks like they're just really lucky at spraying and praying.
