I played Wolfenstein, the "Barney version of Wolfenstein, R.O.T.T, and various other FPS early on.

This was back in the day when you only had an hour daily limit on BBSes, and it took 4 floppy disks, and 4 days to download Wolfenstein and the original DOOM.

wow, BBS games, I remember the chess master BBS version and it was drawn in ASCII text and the 14.4k modems were "High speed". that's tapping my first experiences with PC fun. (386 power server with 8 MB of ram and a dedicated phone line) I'm 28 going on 40 at the moment.

For youngsters:
BBSs (Bulletin board systems) were like a forum a web page a game server and all form 1 phone line in someones basement. This is before the internet and it was just as fun at the time.

I started playing CPU online games probably around 2000 when Red Faction was cool. I remember playing HALO on PC I think in '04, and that was REALLY cool. But both instances were really brief. I didn't start playing CPU online games ALOT until about 2 and a half years to 3 years a go when I started going to the local PC cafe. After about two hundred dollars there, I built my own computer, and concentrated on Battlefield 2. Very entertaining game. Then, I was introduced to Counter Strike: Source, and I bounced around b/t BF2 and CSS. BF 2142 was a huge let down. So, I abandoned the Battlefield series and stayed with the Half-Life series and Source. I've been playing Source for about 2 years now, and I have been playing on the Da 24/7 Assault server for about 1 and 1/2 years. But it feels like I've been playing games for so much longer.
