Problems downloading sounds?

Alright, so a steam tech finally emailed me to help me out with whatever was wrong with my computer, and I think they actually helped. I tried to log onto the DA server, but it froze while attempting to download the mani plugin sound Restrict Weapons. Is there a way that I can bypass this download or a website where I can download these sounds that way my computer won't freeze anymore? Or am I gonna have to disable sounds, if so how do I do that?

Give this a try, type cl_downloadfilter "no sounds" into console.

Another new problems, now when I try to join the one scoutzknives map that I can play, the game freezes after no more than 2 seconds of being on it. My comp isnt freezing cause I can still do caps lock and stuff, but its the game. I have the video settings as low as they can get, even though my comp recommends them to be the highest they can be. any suggestions?

Alright, I tried that and It seems to have helped, but I'm not sure. I have tried three times since I got your message to access the DA server, and each time, the loading screen randomly divides horizontally and moves. Kinda hard to explain, but imagine this message cut into bars and seperated, that has happened three times since I tried that no sounds thing. Thats progress though, because usually the game just freezes

WhenverI try to join all but one server, including my favorite one the DA server, the loading screen gets to the part where it says Retrieving Server Information and no further, then the game freezes. Steam suggested deleting the steamapps game file then verifying game cache, which I did. I used to be able to run most servers w/o problems and now I can't.

odd, heres a couple sugestions 1)check out the steam forums for help, you probably aren't the first person to have this problem. 2) wait for someone with more experience to post here and help you and 3) completely unistall, install to a new directory and then try to join your server.

Hopefully you can find an answer without needing to re install. Sorry i couldn't be more help.

That cl_download filter thing didnt work, but I was able to access a few more servers than usual, however now the game freezes after 2 seconds. I have contacted steam for the third time, but if any of you guys have any suggestions Im willing to try anything

Oh, and I have already uninstalled and reinstalleed over 3 times

Ooooh, you could always get the "steam tech" to go to the Da server and see if there is anything there that might interfere with your computer.

It isnt just that server, because I have tried other cs_assault maps with the same result. Right now every map I try to load wont load or will freeze after 2 seconds
