Is changing the player skins to different colors considered a hack?

I don't think if it is a hack, but it is cheap as hell.

I'm pretty much a purist. I like to play the game as it came delivered in the box. No dualie scripts, no different colored skins, no bunny hop scripts, nothing.

I figure, I get more satisfaction, using my own skills, than needing help from outside sources.

i would have to agree, No point in it because in matches, Proper matches, No Skins are allowed. But you can use scripts ( i only use a buy script )

agreed. i dont use anything that will change how i get my kills. with custom skins and models it will change the looks and possibly the feel but thats about it for me.

I have redefined skins for M3, M4 and the AK. M3 is totally black default skin, unchanged w custom sounds. M4 and the Ak nothing special about them just makes the look a little bit more realistic (still default skin-looking). That's it for me and i like it that way because the old ak lookd a little scratchy for me and the m4 was a little 2 gray.

Its not considered a hack, CS:S was designed to be very open and modifiable (if thats a world). Only places skins aren't allowed are in scrims and stuff but when the scrim script is activated it should set them all back to default anyways...

No, it isn't a hack, but there are skins that people can use to make terrorists bright red, and counter terrorists bright blue. They can then be seen easily in shadows, alcoves and other areas where they otherwise may be able to blend in.

Its lame IMO, plain and simple, if you need that to prevail, whether it is a scrim or not.

agree with ^, just lame to need some VERY bright skins to see people and make it easier to kill them. Just play with your own skill, if it isn't good enuff just train lol

I only get skins for the sounds. my m3 is same gun with a red color and a killer sound. most of the other guns just make cool sounds. my awp and ct autosniper are almsot silenced so it makes finding the awpers way harder.

I have a Urban Camo skin for the Seal CT, it looks ok, and it's in-keeping with the game. Replacing all the skins with large colourful skins/models is cheap.
I notice some servers don't allow them.

I once demoed a guy saying that he has colored models and i sent it in and he got banned! So i guess it could be considered a hack if someone gets banned..

Hmm well basically if there is nothing about it in the rules I don't think he could get banned... was this on a SP server?

IMO opinion theres a very fine line of whats acceptable and what isnt. For instance using scripts (eg bunnyhop scripts) to gain an advantage is a borderline offence for me, if u cant hit a person jumping then u shud praccy more (after all its not like the BF2 registration).

As for custom models... No they arent illegal but people often see them as cheap and gain an advantage over people with less knowledge of customising ur CSS experience.

As for myself i used to use custom models, but since re-installing steam for the 53rd time i cba re-installing them and as far as im concerned do not give me an unfair advantage if i was to install them again. Plus there are many other ways in CSS to see ppl better even with the default skins eg gammasutra, or simply adjusting ur gamma settings for ur gfx card.

I think it doesnt matter if u customise ur CSS or not, if your skilled you will do well no matter what custom script/model/sound u have.

My verdict is that u shud be allowed to do such things if u feel necessary, after all there a plenty of server plug ins to force the default models etc.

it isnt a hacks but as Titan said it is the cheapist thing in CSS. i dont like it whe im trying to hide in the shadows and some idiot has white skins. stupid people lol.
