I think the most underrated retro games were :

Earthbound (SNES) - Funniest RPG and where Ness from Super Smash Bros. came from.

HVGN Episode 12

Shadowrun (Genesis) - Gran Theft Auto's predecessor :) Not really but it's where the GTA system came from.

Earthworm Jim 1/2 (Genesis) - This game features a worm using his body as a whip...awesome.

Ninja Warriors (SNES): It's a classic beat 'em up with robotic Ninja's. Honestly Where else have you seen Robotic ninja?

Seiken Densetsu 3: Probobly the best RPG of the SNES. Featured Co-op gameplay and a total of about 4 endings possible. With like i think 5 different characers to choose from.

I think that Star Wars Lego game 1 and 2 is so underated. My friend had it and i didnt think to would be good then i had a go and it was ok so i baught it the first one and the second (after i tryed the fisr one). and i got to say its really good not many people i know have it but should try it. Its really good, well i think so. Jordan

Zool2, sequel on Zool. The game was a platform one with a 2d background which moved in all directions when u moved/jumped etc.
I have it myself on my SNES and it's only fun to play it when ur drunk or when u're high on weed/spacecake or w.e.
Check this youtube video out (to to see how irritating the backgrounds are,...) Anyway, Gameplay = magnifient
