I was looking around, and found out that my laptop's video card is based on the AGP 8x form factor.
So, I was wondering, how different are video cards specifically made for a laptop, compared to desktop video cards? The one that came from the factory on my laptop is a GeForce FX Go 5200, and only has 64MB of RAM onboard, and is also AGP 8x. I am looking around on Newegg and found a bunch of Nvidia cards that have the AGP 8x form factor too, so I was wondering if I can just buy 1 of those and install it onto the laptop instead? The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P15-S479. TIA.

NVM... I did a search on the net and found that the laptop I've got is not one that has a "removable video card", so I'm stuck w/ the card on the laptop forever.
Bummer.

It's ok, I'm now only days away from having my desktop finished up. After that, it's only a matter of taking the time to go into our storage unit to find my monitor's power chord, and I'll be gaming on my desktop with a better video card. Hopefully I'll be able to run the game in high res and still get good FPS

With laptop manufacturers moving more toward MXM, specificly MXM-II GPU architecture is more likely that video cards will be much more upgradeable in the future.
However you still run into a lot of problems with heat, power, and general hardware placement in the laptop itself. It will be interesting to see if the industry gets more standardized with (hopefully) more laptops like the Asus c90s coming out.
