latency/ping on US Servers

hi guys, well today im on the awp madness, in server list latency around 210 - 220 and when i join game its the same, but with in 10 odd seconds my ping rockets till it tells me to find somewhere closer , dont know if its a busy connection, but im the only person on in my house and im im protected wireless n such, so i dont know,

any ideas guys?

edit: wow now in server list the latency of US servers are rocketing and the UK servers are going a little higher than usual as well

Hey scorpion ,
If you run this command from your DOS prompt , type cmd in your start run box
it should bring up a black screen than type in "tracert" without the quotes and than type the ip of the server you want to play on like lets say u want to play on the UK assault server 83.142.230.66but you want to drop the last part for thistest (:27015), what this will do is tell you where the problem lies if its not on you computer or in your house this program traces a route that your internet connection takes when you want to play on that server .
When you see the program scrolling through the different routers it hits on the way to the game it will relay how long the response time is to get to that point you will want to pay alot of attention to where is the biggest jump in the difference of the routers and what the name is of that router and if your ISP can do something about it or not is where the rest of the problem will lie.
this is really a point the finger tool and unless it points the finger at someone your paying for service for like your ISP you may not be able to get any result from it, you can try bringing it up with your ISP (internet service provider) but track this activity for about a week to show them a pattern as to your troubles.
