Default Looking for a Laptop!!!

I have a desktop PC at home that i play games on. i was looking for a laptop that is affordable or at least has a payment plan. I would like to have at least 4 GB of RAM with a minimum 320 GB HDD. i want it to be great for gaming but good for video music and just doing homework for school. preferably no less than a 15" screen and not a dell. i dont trust them. i would also like for it to have a built in wireless card so i dont have to buy one. any help would be much appreciated.

To be completely honest with you, you are not going to find a good gaming laptop out there that isn't three or four grand. If we are to help you on this one we are going to need a price range that you are looking for or at least the games that you are looking to play on it.

One word ; Dell.
Though the laptop you will like will be pricey.
My current laptop only cost $1500 and plays source at an average of about 70fps.
It has 160GB and 2 gigs of ram.
Dell has a nice warranty/coverage on their laptops.
and they are very customizable to your taste on the website.

lol, forgot all about you didnt like Dell.

Gateway does have that nice gaming laptop but costs about 4k.
=|
They might have a payment option on the website.

Actally this is really coincidental as a friend of mine just got an alienware pc for his 18th birthday, he has a 500gb 15 inch with some beautiful resolution, a high spec graphics card and 4gb ram, he got it for £1500 since he had a loyalty card, normal price was £1800.

tills is right to be honest, your not going to find a high spec without forking out something unless you happen to work there lol.

+rep me for proving everyone wrong?

Heres a laptop with the specs of a $3,500 alienware for..oh...$1250?

Gateway - Laptop with Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology - P-7811FX

This laptop can take a second hard drive. If you really need more than 200GB you can buy a second 200GB drive for pretty cheap. This system will run any game on the market right now including Crysis and COD4. It will run CS:S in max resolution at probably 200fps avarage.

Specs:

For financing...it's bestbuy, use a bestbuy card!

I use a HP Pavilion dv6000 and it hasn't been causing me any problems with games. It also comes with an nvidia graphics card if that's what your looking for.

Alienware = Dell!... lol Dell bought out alienware a while ago! so i dont think he will like Alienware. I have no problem with alienware, my girlfriend has one and its perfect. I have used Dell's they arent a problem, but you will noticed if you have a dell and an alienware and have called for troubleshooting both at some point, both of the services are horrible. The tech support sucks big time!

Action jester, there are a couple problems with that gateway you posted specs for, #1, the centrino processor.. #2 the memory... i will not post my opinion about the centrino or the celeron in this forum. and the memory is DDR3 and not DDR2. DDR3 is good but has very high latencies. DDR2 will be in the past soon, but as for right now, a lot of computer enthusiasts are still buying it because DDR3 is still in development for "Better" its like a beta program, its constanly being tested and improved. DDR2 is no longer being improved because its at its max for current capabilites within its range. if you wait another 5-6 months, im sure DDR3 will improve but if you buy it now, you will have to fork out more money later to get it. i guess it kinda comes down to if you have the money and are impatient or want the newest thing VS have the best possible performance right now. you could put that different ways tho because in 5-6 months DDR3 could be "better" than DDR2 and then your stuck with DDR2 and cant upgrade. But as for right now anyways, DDR2 will/can handle all of your current games and high definition formats. But i must say, i have heard lots about that gateway and it is *almost* equivalent to my/my girlfriends alienware. Every pc magazine i pick up has the alienware m15x in it and it has an award stating how it out performs alot of laptops if not all because of its desktop-like capabilities. so whatever you decide to go with ShadowNinja post it here before you buy and we can all give you some advice on what hardware to get with it based upon your needs. and not many people think of this but no single computer/laptop is the same as anyone elses due to software and such. which is an other reason for beta testing. Some software have conflicts with some other types of software. and if its in beta, and you recognize this, inform the developers of the beta program and possibly even the other application in which its in conflict with. because you never know which program thats causing it, but a lot of the time the conflict app in question is the beta program. *Do not use beta applications if you dont anticipate crashes or want them at all either* Such as google's Chrome, its in beta, so if your using it be informed that if your having probles with your pc and you werent before the installation of chrome, it could be the problem. BTW im not a google fan anymore, but you can read about that in the announcements! lol
