emergency helped with vista needed

ive got a huge project due tomarrow and the folder is on my second hdd, its says i dont have permission to move it, copy it, or open it.


help!!! i am stressing out!

Soz I don't have my vista laptop with me but I know in XP this problem sometimes happens when you want to view files from 'my documents' on another hdd. The way around it in XP is to goto win explorer click 'tools' 'folder options' 'view' scroll down to the bottom untick 'use simple file sharing' once you've done this goto the folder you want to view 'right click' goto the security tab then look for the advanced tap under security you then have to go to the 'owner tab' and select the administrators or whatever user account your logged on and click the tick box at the bottom that says 'replace owners on subcontainers and objects' you should get a warning just click ok wait untill it has finished doing it's thing (this could take a while) once finished you should be able to access the folders you wanted. Hope this helps - sorry but this might be different for Vista users

i have a quicker way of fixing your problem..well, it might not be quicker but it sure is easier! reformat and stick in linux or xp =P

i asked the ocforums people, lol j/k.

they gave me a comand line that forced the file to move.

xcopy i presume? run command prompt as administrator?

on Vista just Disable the user Account Control off. Its very crappy and anoying with it on as everything you do is blocked lol. It anoyed me and didn't have permission to install the Internet. Disable that and your free

Wont do anything to Virus getting into computer either.
