Unable to load video drivers

its an actual windows disc so its just like installing windows on a new pc, so you'd just have to download the NIC driver ahead of time and put it on a cd or something and then you can download the rest of the drivers once you get windows installed

recovery discs are usually a restore point to what the computer was like when you got it. That means it'll have the same configuration (which often means multiple partitions), and the same bloatware installed. usually if I have a copy of the OS I reinstall it right away. I hate bloatware (especially the acer toolbar).

Yeah I remember I had to reinstall everything once before, because they had to replace the HD on the laptop, and when I got it back it didn't have anything on it.

In that case, I have a WinXP Pro CD here, but it's a CD, not a DVD. It hasn't worked so far... makes me want to pop it into my computer and copy everything on it, then burning it on a DVD disc instead.

grab a hammer. threaten it. and if it still doesn't work, give it a few love taps.

if that doesn't work..

reformat laptop, install the stock drivers that came with it, test see if it works, then install your other drivers. make sure you remember to install all the chipsets and crap like that.

meaning, if your laptop came with any cds that install things to help your computer run, install all that first before installing any video drivers.

^ lol That was my goal. However, nothing can be done right now because my stupid combo drive won't read CDs, and the Windows disc that I have is on a CD.

pro and media center are not the same thing, you will need a separate cd key for pro if the sticker on the bottom of the laptop said media center edition 2005, you did say that it said that, didn't you? just tryin to get story straight im real tired this weekend

I have a WinXP Pro and key for it. I was just saying the laptop came with MCE, and I couldn't find the recovery disc for it, so I might as well just install the WinXP Pro on it, or at least see if I could use the WinXP Pro disc to repair the WinXP that's on my laptop. Doesn't look like the latter will work, so a reformat seems the be my only option right now.
