Well, I just recently got back from Vacation where I visited Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand and Vietnam. For the most part it was a great trip. The only downsides to it was the 19-hour flight to there and back as well as the intense heat which coupled with severe humidity makes it quite uncomfortable to go outside. Especially when you are outside for most of the day visiting the people and experiencing the culture. The people there overall were very friendly and treated us with respect. Little fact that I learned about Thailand is that they now have a third gender for transexuals because transexual people make up 10% of their population. That means that one out of every ten people I saw were probably transexual. A fact that creeped me out at first, but then I got used to it and stopped wondering if the person I was looking at was a transexual...
As for Vietnam, I loved it. It was my first time there, but I really enjoyed it. There are so many beautiful beaches and the sand there is as white as any Counter-Strike player who doesn't go out much. The beaches I would say are comparable to the ones in Cancun (which has nice beaches). However the downside to Vietnam was not only the heat, but also the Communists. I mean I'm ok with them being Communist, but it's just how little respect and how bad of treatment I got because I was American. For example, when I first arrived at the airport you must go through customs and the guy at the booth gave me such a hard time asking very prying questions. It was ridiculous. Another thing is, is that if they know you are a foreigner and generally the only people there are French and American, they will jack up the prices to almost double because they know you can afford it. Example, when I went to go buy a souvenir for a cousin of mine and I asked how much it was, the lady at the booth looked at me from head to toe before telling me the price. It was very blatant that she just made that the price because I was a foreigner.
Though overall, I really loved the countries and recommend if you want a nice, culturally different place to visit on a vacation, then Southeast Asia is a good place to go. Though one warning, if you want relaxation, then don't book a tour that takes to you many different locations, just stay in one resort that you find is nice because a tour is the exact opposite of relaxation. If you are, however, looking to be immersed in culture and the people then please do book a tour.

BTW, this is my first blog! Also I might add pictures later, though I can't now because I don't have them all uploaded onto my computer.
