SpawnPoint - Where Game Begins

Since TF2 has gone free to play we thought we'd celebrate this (and try to cash in on the extra players ) by adding a TF2 server to the UK box. So here it is:

It's a pretty basic set up at the moment running 3 maps; 2fort, Badwater and Dustbowl. More than happy to take suggestions for other maps.

We've also signed it up to the TF2 Quickplay/matchmaking thingy, so it should get some random traffic from that. It does rule out using some settings, maps and mods but we weren't really planning on using any of the stuff they don't like anyway.

It replaces the UK Zombie Mod server since that mod has been broken for a while now and doesn't look like it will be fixed any time soon.

We are taking admin applications, so if you fancy having admin on that server then head over to the servers tab and apply for admin. Just make sure to have read this thread first:

It might just be time to dust off my TF2 shortcut and have another stab at this.

I didnt enjoy it before - a new low level player pitted against high level ranks is not fun! But if Free 2 Play brings in the new ranks, i might give it another shot.

I've been rather enjoying it since it went free to play. It can still be pretty frustrating when you're up against a well organised team and your team decides to try and rush with wave after wave of spies, that's just the nature of a class based fps though. It takes a bit of getting used to, particularly finding a class you like and how to use it effectively.

For those of you new to it the easiest classes to start with are soldier, medic, heavy and maybe sniper. Pyro's are great fun but you need to sneak around and use the map to ambush the enemy. Scouts are fast but weak, spies can do all sorts of cool stuff but require a bit of practice to use effectively and engineers are essential on most maps but require you to know the best and most useful places to build stuff.

So far the server is proving to be very popular, it was a bit quiet on Sunday but's it's been pretty much full since.
