Sigh....and again......:mad1:

Steam is like the bank...every time you log in it tells you that a) steam will never ask you for your user passwords and b) never to divulge them.....

Meh....never mind...hopefully you can sort it out....if not, learn from this when you buy your next one.

Amazing. Even after the initial warnings of "never tell your password to anyone", if you were silly enough to go on and actually type your password into your steam chat window, it actually then puts up a warning message in a pop up window saying "are you sure you wanna send your password dude!?" or something to that effect... still don't understand why people fall for this?! Think!

It's not like someone just says "can I have your user name and password please?".

You do get a warning when you click on links from chat boxes that say "not a Steam website.... don't enter your user name or pass or you could lose your account". The problem is people have ignored that box so many times it doesn't even register after a while, this is what the phishers rely on.

Once you've clicked the link it will mostly be a fairly convincing mock up of a steam page offering you something for nothing. The clues are usually in spellings, grammar and the web address. Now Steam may never message you asking for user and pass, but they do ask you to log in.

The reason people fall for these is they automatically ignore the "not a steam website" warning, miss the little differences and just log in as they would at Steam.

In the past few weeks i must have gotten about 10 ATLEAST attempts on my account lol. What the majority of them were was someone saying that they gifted me a game and i had to go to this steampowered website to get it. when you click the link the site looked very legit(aka just the real thing ripped), but if you took one look at the url it was pretty easy to figure out it that it wasn't a steam site. They have all been from my various friends chats (people who i know wouldnt try and steal my account) so i am wondering why they fell for the day scammers anyway 0_o.

Oh well, just look at the url before you put your user and pass in :), they can make a fake site, but the url always give it away

I got my uncle to disable his account and others that he made.

Block this kid if you get a chat request. Sent some link that ended in ".cz.cc/", as a Steam website and asked for login.

Honestly to think that this actually works on some people is pretty sad.

Well the same thing happened to me yesterday, Someone named "Threat Removing" added me on friends list. I accepted him and he started a chat. He said that theres something wrong with my account, so I have to give him my username and password to fix it. He also said because of all the trouble I'll get a free COD MW2 and Left 4 Dead. I know that guy wanted to steal my account so I just said no and removed him from friend list. All of you should know that giving away a password on steam chat leads to a stolen account. If you're just a little smart you should see and understand the text on the top of evry conversation: Never tell your password to anyone. Remember that and you'll be cool.
