Exclamation Important, Phishing Alert! Please Read

There is a new phisher trying to steal peoples Steam accounts. They do this by providing a link via Steam friends, that takes you to a page that looks like an official Steam web page. You are asked for your password in order to enter a "Steam Tournament", but all that happens is they steal your account.

Anyone who has fallen for this, please see this link on how to get your account back:

Answer

Any admins that have had their accounts stolen please let us know, so we can prevent the hijackers from misusing it.

Never tell your password to anyone.

Just so you all know. If it is anything officially steam related. THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR PASSWORD. There is absolutely no reason they should be asking you for it.

I ignored the message I recieved from |XKF| Tullsy (T.K.A).
I hope he's not involved with this scam or more importantly, didnt fall for this latest attempt at account theft!

Be vigilant peeps!

I admit...I did get hit by it..I wasn't thinking right.

mm...and Cp...thanks for posting this..

Second edit: You cannot get your password back by just doing the reset password thingy...you have to buy a new account..it seem the "Phishers" change your email too...which is scary in itself..

You can get your account back, if you can prove to Steam that you are the owner of the account. Proof required includes:
  1. Steam account name.
  2. The last e-mail address you used on the account.
  3. You must provide verification for the account:
    • If you registered software purchased at a retail location, please include a digital photo or scan of a CD Key registered to your account. Please write your Steam account username on the quick reference card or CD Key sticker below the code in permanent ink.
    • If you purchased software through Steam with a credit card, please provide the following:
      • Card Type (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
      • Cardholder Name
      • Credit Card Expiration Date
      • Last four digits of the credit card number - Do not provide the full credit card number
    • If you purchased software through Steam using a PayPal account, please provide:
      • Billing Name on Account.
      • Billing Address on Account
      • Paypal PayerID
      • Invoice ID
  4. Approximate timeframe of hijacking. (Provide the date and time if possible)
  5. The method the hijacker used, if you know how your account was compromised.
If you can prove it then you should, don't let these scumbags keep any account if you can help it.

Razr, the link in the message takes you to, what appears to be an authentic steam website page where you are asked for your steam account info. You would need to enter the info for your account to be hijacked.
