AWP debate...

It’s the “Ban the Awp debate again”…..The AWP is part of the game and should be left alone…..We hate the AWP….It’s not fair to ban the AWP and still have other weapons….The AWP slows the game down and causes camping…. I need the AWP to get my score up…..The AWP is good for my stats…. AWPers are gay….The Ts need the AWP…. So go to an AWP map......The CTs should have an AWP…..and so it goes. You can’t make everyone happy.
However….it makes me happy to ban the AWP.

i feel that 1AWP per team is the answer, there are alot of AWP Whore out there, and these guy only come to servers if AWP

The awp in this game like many guns don't reflect enough realism ... if you have a weapon witha a zoom feature you have to take into consideration breathing and steadiness and position of the gun before you can implement that weapon ... in this game this weapon and weapons of this type weren't given enough thought before implementation into the game and now that its here its hard to make the big conversion ...
i don't like the gun the way it sits right now
I am a target shooter , and i probably will like the gun less if they change it either ...

the problem is that there is no prone in counter strike. I agree that you wouldn't be able to hold an awp steady that well IRL, but on the other hand, the game is realistic in the sense that the awp does crazy damage IRL. It can disable a tank ffs!

I think it is silly to say it should be restricted because it isnt realistic when neither is the game of counter strike. Yes, because if you have a helmet and get shot in the face with an m4, you will survive <.< in real life. Helmets in css are more like invisible metallic bubbles that encase your entire head.

no, if we did that would be battlefield2. But the awp has been in this game since the beginning so I think it should stay. Change is BAD!!! You wonder why 1.6 is so popular still? Because CSS has deviated too much for many hardcore 1.6ers. Ask any one of them if they would play source if the ONLY difference were graphics and I'm sure they would all say yes. Anyway, counter strike is in no way a realistic game. After being shot once you aren't going to be like, "OW! YOU SHOT ME YOU JERK!" and then fight back. You would be disabled. Only super heroes and hollywood figures can fight after taking bullets, it's not like that IRL. (Btw, I've given 97 damage in 27 hits on css...)
edit: Honestly, it's not that the awp is "too powerful." It's that the scout isn't powerful enough! I don't care what it's called, snipers are 1 hit kills. It's the damn motto of U.S. Snipers! "One shot one kill."

I managed to do less than 20 damage with a headshot from an AWP once...missed the guy I was aiming at but hit the guy who had just been nailed by 2 nades hiding on the other side of the wall behind him.

It's true, AWPs are lame.
The pros use it because it gives them an edge. I don't think they care about the fairness of the game as long as it wins the game for them. If they could exploit they would and if there was a super nade that kills realistically with fragments in a 15 meter radius then they would use it too.
I think the best course of action is to make the gun cost a fortune. Something along the lines of $8,000-10,000. That way only a few people will be able to afford it and even if they do they can't afford it every round.

An AWP is only a "good" weapon in the hands of someone who has practised long and hard to use it properly ;)
Give a newbie an awp and i bet you can knife him one on one.
It takes skill to use an awp to effect. Next person on server who calls it a noob cannon is going to get "gimped" for being completely stupid.
As for people who say it's "too powerful" its only that if you get shot by it. There are many ways to bypass an awper (flashes, smoke, cover, movement) and if you're any good at the game killing an awper isn't that difficult. Perhaps rather than complaining about an awp in game you should concentrate on learning to defeat them.
Small hint. Set up a lan server, set the bots to high skill and give them all awps. You soon learn how to avoid being shot ;)Also to learn how to use one well. set up a lan server give yourself an AWP only and give all the bots knives. Hours of fun :D
Should we ban the deagle next or just turn dwp ON on all the servers
As for $10000 an awp lets be honest you don't need to buy an awp every round if you already have one ;)
A really good friend of mine who is fantastic with an awp used to say. "Those who AWP do. Those who don't complain!" It's fairly true and relevant IMHO.

I love that last line Raven:D....awp is fine but you do need skill to use it...anyone that says you don't is a noob. You do need skill to defeat it too. Rather than complain, upgrade your skills and when you pwn the awper say pwnt. I would not miss the auto-snipers, aka auto-noobs. Those are guns that steam could get rid of and 90% of us would cheer!

The same old argument….The AWP is part of the game…andthats true…but let’s not forget there is a way to ban the AWP one map at a time. That is also part of the game or it wouldn’t be there. You can actually ban any weapon you want but the AWP is the most deleted (some times by popular demand). It is a fact that the AWP in the hands of a good player is tough to beat. It means he practiced. However…put a noob in a corner someplace and he can slow the game way down and build his stats way up. As far as realism goes…forget about it. I have seen guys that could use an AWP like a pistol. I personally think it detracts from the game. It is also annoying when a good map becomes an AWP map because some feel it’s the only way to defend. The debate will continue. There is a place for the AWP at times. I myself…don’t like it..

Well, too bad they made the Scout way inaccurate now.
I used to be able to out Scout AWPers but now they made it impossible to do. Way to go Valve!!!
Anyway...
AWP takes skill, no doubt about it. Ask Bullet, he's learning to use it now. He hated it before, now he loves it.

I used to hate AWPs because people kept complaining about them. I would start scouting, owning, and change my name to "BE A MAN!! SCOUT!!!".
Now, I use awps if I get the chance. I still prefer scouts simply because it is more of a challenge, but on maps such as fy_kingofthehill_usa I'll AWP simply because everyone else on the map is. I can't stand shooting at someone, killing them, and getting AWP'ed in the foot by someone else.
AWPs should be allowed on SOME maps. They are fun on assault until 7 people on each team have them. Then it's just loud and annoying.
