I'm sure a few Yankees fans here are abreast of the events that have transpired in recent weeks with A-Rod.

Last night, it was discovered that Rodriguez had supposedly went behind Boras' back through a third party, and contacted the Yankees about playing for them. On WFAN, an excerpt of an interview was aired in which Rodriguez apologized for the circus atmosphere, decided he never truly wanted to opt out in his heart, and implored Yankee fans to have faith that his heart is with the Yankees, as WELL as the money ( at least he was honest about that ).

Ego? Yes. Greedy? Yes. Incapable of handling immense negative scrutiny? Possibly.

I personally have mixed feelings. Would I like that third base position spoken for? Yes. Will I ever regard him as a TRUE Yankee ( Yankee fans know what the definition of this is )? I'm not sure. If this 10 year contract is inked, he would have to do a lot in those 10 years to earn my regard as such. He gained the admiration f alot of Yankee fans this year, and it is amazing how a period of 3 weeks threw that into the toilet, and then some.
