I don't think you're "doomed" (although I love that word lol...). I mean, you're a really nice guy, funny, cute and all that jazz. There are plenty of good women out there.
It's just a matter of getting to know them better before jumping into the relationship or physical stuff. It can save you from lots of trouble and emotional turbulence.
The best thing to look for to know when a relationship would work, is communication. Your best bet , is someone who's able to say whatever's on their mind, and who isn't holding things back from you. Honesty and straight-forwardness = winning combo. That way, you don't get hurtful surprises.
And like I said, give yourself the time to know the girls better.
I know someone like you wouldn't have trouble finding a lady.
