RE: source 1.6 ??
What people don't understand is that Source is not a replacement for 1.6. As far as eSports go - all the big teams still play 1.6. No one really cares about Source when it comes to eSports. I don't think it will always be that way. You've got to remember where Counter Strike has come from. It's a game that is 7 years old now and honestly, when it was first released, it was horrible. Even some of the maps that originally came with counter strike were horrible (who remembers cs_docks where you'd rescue the hostages and they'd get stuck in the water because they can't swim?
). When you take into consideration that 1.6 wasn't released outside of beta stages for a full year and then remember that Source is just barely over a year old, you have to cut it some slack. Personally Source has come a long way from when it was released just over a year ago. It's still "noob friendly" but it's not 100 percent easy. There is definitely a learning curve for some of the weapons. Same with using the sounds, knowing the maps and knowing where and how to shoot. You can shoot through walls and objects now like you could in 1.6.
Either way - both are good games. I think everyone should play both as both are very good games. I do believe at some point in time Valve and Steam will stop supporting 1.6 - but I think we've got a few years before that happens.
In the meantime, everyone should download DOD Source - cause it's freakin' awesome!!!!
