Im a firm atheist but Richard Dawkins is to simply put it a moron!
He attacks crude, rabble-rousing chancers like Ted Haggard, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, rather than facing up to sophisticated theologians like Bonhoeffer or the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Dawkins is an embarressment to atheists. You will find that most critisicm of his work comes from atheists rather than christians. In the God delusion Dawkins simply presents us with another dogmatic fundamentalism.
Many are disturbed by Dawkins's crude stereotypes and seemingly pathological hostility towards religion. In fact, The God Delusion might turn out to be a monumental own goal - persuading people that atheism is just as intolerant as the worst that religion can offer.
Similarly his other books such as the Root of all evil have been panned for their subsequent unfairness. People asked where the christians response to his arguments were, the answer was on the cutting room flaw.
Dawkins furiates me we need to treat those who disagree with us with intellectual respect, rather than dismissing them - as Dawkins does.
Dawkins claims his arguments are the most logical, I however would argue it is most logical to follow a religeon as anyone who has come across Pascals wager may realise.( Even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason, a person should "wager" as though God exists, because so living has potentially everything to gain, and certainly nothing to lose)
