Before I go into the details of how the guide works, I have answered a few possible questions you may have.
This guide is intended to be an aid to obtaining the achievements in game and nothing more. This is an opinionated view of how to get achievements and is not 'accurate' or the only way to achieve them.
Why not? There are many 'guides' out there for many games, this is no different. I wanted to help people obtain achievements and help with overall game play.
Certainly, that is the main purpose of this guide, hence the term 'guide'. This article is here to guide you in the right direction and ultimately achieving them all.
This is not intended as an 'official' or 'only' way to get your hands on those illusive achievements.
If you are stuck on a particular achievement then I only have one piece of advice, try again. If that fails, try again until you get bored or die trying. Some of the achievements are intended to be hard to get. Some take multiple attempts or hours to complete.
Yes of course you can, just give credit where it's due.
No, I am afraid not.

As you may have already seen all achievements have a little image like this one;

with accompanying information, like this,

(Well not entirely like that, those descriptions are custom made. The text isn't just the image.)

There are 5 'levels' or campaign's in the game, each one has their own achievements. Some achievements can be completed in multiple 'levels' others have to be done in a particular one.
Example;

As you can see you can do this one in any of the 5 campaigns and also in any difficulty (I will cover that next).
Now an example where you can only do an achievement in a particular campaign.
Example;

Because this achievement requires you to complete a particular campaign you can only achieve it in 'Dead Center'.

This is an important category to take note of, this not only indicates what level of difficulty you must play in to gain a particular achievement but also what is recommended. You can tell the difference in one of 2 ways, either by the description of the achievement or by the comments made below in the info section.

This category is more of a recommendation than anything. It gives an advisement of how easy the achievement is to obtain. An example is if the achievement is to ride a survivor for a particular length then it is more likely a bot will kill said infected (providing you are playing on versus). Basically, not to emphasize but sometimes achievements are easier to obtain if all 'human' players are present and willing to either play fair or to help a player to get an achievement, rather than a bot which will only play to win.

This is where any additional information, hints, tips and advice is placed. Or depending on the achievement where any images and other media is put. All this is purely 'opinionated' and is not intended to be an 'official' or 'recommended' way of gaining achievements.

There are a few ways to do this one.
- Using a long range weapon such as a rifle or a hand pistol, preferably a Magnum. Get the Spitter from a distance as soon as you see or hear her.
- If a Spitter spawns nearby then if possible try to use a melee weapon such as a fire axe which will kill her in one hit (unless you are useless).
- Shotguns are extremely effective as well, especially if you are surrounded by a horde.
-
If on the off chance you fail this one, then its best to keep alert as Spitter goo will quickly decrease your health.

This an achievement which is easy to get, however I failed the first few try's. This is down to one of 2 reasons.
- As a team you are separated or far apart, this means it is less likely to be able to respond or reach a survivor being attacked by a jockey.
- You are being attacked by multiple enemies and are unable to immediately kill the jockey.
-
Try not to use shove as this can cause the jockey to come loose off the survivors back and hence you won't get the achievement. Another key point is if you can use either an automatic shotgun or a melee weapon which deals more damage in one shot.

This one is quite simple, find an ammo cache, such as frag rounds and deploy them. Be careful though if you are carrying a health kit or defib then you will drop it. So be careful of greedy bots and players. Another thing to note is make a quick assessment of your surroundings which will decrease chances of a surprise infected attack.

This achievement just takes time and requires you to play through all of the campaigns. Here is a list of the uncommon infected you must kill;
- CEDA Agent (Dead Center)
- Construction Worker (Hard Rain)
- Mudmen (Swamp Fever)
- Clown (Dark Carnival)

This one does as it says on the so called 'tin'. The easiest way to complete this achievement if you want to do things the easy way is to play on easy, however bots are optional as they can be a hindrance and slow you down.
| |

Not as easy as it looks, the objective is to throw a bile jar on an 'alive' tank. You have to make sure you are in the right place at the right time on this one and make sure you don't get too close. This one can be done on any difficulty as it is not dependant on how hard the tank is to kill.

Simply put you must aim for the head whilst using any melee weapon. Again easier than it sounds especially on higher difficulties as you won't exactly be concentrating on aiming high, only to kill as many as you can.
The three best melee weapons for the job if you want an almost certainty you will get a decapitation are;
- Katana
- Machete
- Baseball Bat
All melee weapons can decapitate but these are more likely to do so.

Like with all the 'survive the whatever campaign' achievements you must do just that, try not to rage quit and also have fun doing so.

Finding a chainsaw is your first task with this one, they aren't as common as every other weapon and they don't last forever. The chainsaw has a limit on how long you can rip through those nasties, so when using one try and save your ammo for when a big horde or large baddie is around.

You must first find some incendiary ammo on this achievement. Once you have, you must aim first, don't just spray bullets as this will just set other things on fire, like team-mates. You can do this one on any campaign that you find the ammo pack on, also it is up to you whether or not to use bots as they won't hinder your chances of obtaining this one.

Like with all the complete the campaign achievements this one is best done on easy, however you can obtain it on any difficulty.

This one can be difficult and if you are solely aiming to get this you must prepare first. The best place to do this one is on The Parish campaign on the first level, as survivors kill all surrounding infected as you leave the safe area, then wait for one of the infected 'players' to spawn as a jockey. Then as a jockey go take a ride! The reason for no bots on this one is because they will undoubtedly try to kill the jockey and stop you from getting the achievement.

This is probably one of the hardest of all the campaigns and even on easy can be hard to get through if you aren't with the right people, so tread carefully.

This one either takes luck and good timing or an opposing team with good manners to stay in position. The trick here is to hide round a corner or when the survivors are in mid horde as they are less likely to kill or spot you.

Like with the 'Qualified Ride' achievement this one is easiest to obtain without bots and when you have people willing to help get the achievement. That's the hard part, the easy part is to ride a survivor and then have another push or melee you off, make sure they don't shoot you as this will kill you and prevent you from getting the achievement. Once you are knocked off simply ride the same survivor again and then you will have accomplished your mission.

Arguably the hardest campaign to complete on any difficulty, The Parish is one of the longest and most difficult to navigate campaigns. You can do this on any difficulty but easy is recommended for your first outing.

This achievement requires you to kill common infected with every melee weapon. Uncommon and special do not count in this achievement. Here is a list of melee weapons you must use to get the achievement;
- Cricket Bat
- Electric Guitar
- Frying Pan
- Machete
- Crowbar
- Fire Axe
- Katana
- Tonfa (Nightstick)

Simply kill 10 Mudmen whilst in the water? A cakewalk? Nope, not as easy as it looks, yes they may look like common infected but they are harder to spot and even harder to kill when they are splattering mud all over. The best way to kill them is with either a couple of rounds from an automatic shotgun or rifle, or if you happen to have one, a grenade launcher does the trick.

Again another achievement which looks easier than it actually is in most cases. You must first find a Clown that is surrounded by and behind some infected, then a well aimed shot with a Molotov on the Clown must be done, thus making the infected set alight as well. This is all dependant on whether the Clowns shoes are squeaking to attract infected in the first place. This is an achievement that you will usually get as you play the game more and more.

One of the funniest achievements in game, the objective here is to simply push/shove a Clown back when they are in striking distance. Don't use any weapons, even melee as this will kill them. Once you have shoved the Clown in the right place you will hear a 'Honk' to notify you that you have hit the right spot.

Another achievement best done without bots as the bots will kill you in most cases before the 15 seconds is up. This one is best achieved by having a team of willing participants who want to take turns on getting this one, or who just want to give a helping hand. Quite simple to accomplish, simply spawn as a Charger, find the right place to charge at a selected survivor and go for it.

Some luck and teamwork is required here as you need to coordinate with a Spitter to get it. Once you spawn as a jockey try if you can to wait for a Spitter to spit before you start to ride otherwise you could incapacitate the survivor before you move over as spit patch.

Getting this one will either be skill or luck. Once you have found a Grenade launcher try and save its ammo for as long as you can until there is a big horde or an emergency. The best places to do this one are on events such as the plane on Swamp Fever, you are likely to receive a Grenade launcher before hand and you have a high vantage point to aim from.
