Lucasarts has a new game in the works based not only on the famous series of movies Indiana Jones, but based on the films as LEGO. When I heard this, I must admit, I was intrigued. As a child, I played LEGO with my brother for hours on end. We would build spaceships and towns all out of these little blocks. My brother always wanted to play space war or something, but I just wanted to design the houses. And who doesn’t love Indiana Jones. I’ve got to say I’m pretty psyched for the new movie coming out this summer. Which is when this game comes out…coincidence? I think not.
Anyways….the game really does look neat. Sure, it’s not your shoot ‘em up, kill hookers and drug dealers and steal their money type of game, but can’t we just have some good clean fun?
The details of the game are still a little sketchy, but you can bet there will be all the excitement of the original trilogy of movies. Play Indy or many of his friends. Race through the jungle to complete tasks and rescue some sort of royalty, etc., and I’m sure you can expect many different epic quests throughout the game. And expect a ton of exploration. This will be the best part of this game: the adventure. Something about the screenshots from the website tell me that it will be a great undertaking with many different options to choose from.
The strange thing to me is that the LEGO technique seems very strange in a video game format. The look in the screen seems very much like 1980s technology. The squared edges make the game look old-fashioned, and not very modern. But I suppose that’s the look of LEGO, can’t very well have LEGO men with rounded edges.
All in all, a game that every Indiana Jones and LEGO lover should be looking forward to.
