A New Beginning is a cinematic, interactive eco-thriller. In the classic adventure game an impending global climate cataclysm threatens the world, in a story ripped from today’s headlines, dealing with the defining issue of our time. At locations all around the globe, players will have to try and stem the tide – with the whole world hanging in the balance. Players take control of protagonists Bent and Fay to explore the detailed, hand-painted backgrounds and interact with more than 30 hand-animated characters rendered in a realistic 2D style. The ambitious adventure game project is in development for PC, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii.

Backgrounds like the devastated skyline of San Francisco are constructed from more than 20 2D layers to ensure a realistic sense of depth and high level of detail. More than 130 locations make A New Beginning one of the largest adventure games in recent years. The more than 30 characters are rendered in a realistic 2D style and are painstakingly animated by hand in feature film quality.

The year 2050: The cities of the world lie in ruins. Catastrophic climate change, long prophesized, has devastated the world with fatal consequences. In a flooded San Francisco, time pilot Fay overlooks the magnitude of the destruction. Sent from a distant future to avert the evisceration of mankind, she is faced with the horrible realization that it is already too late. The last hope for salvation is another desperate leap back in time to our present!

Scientist Bent Svensson has had to give up on his life’s work of trying to engineer an eco-friendly alternative energy source. But his existence as a reluctant retiree is interrupted by a most peculiar visitor: The young Fay claims to have been sent from the future to prevent an impending environmental catastrophe. The only remaining hope is Bent’s research which is about to fall into the hands of an unscrupulous energy magnate. Bent decides to trust the young woman – but is she really telling the truth?
